That title might sound like a bit of a mouthful, but GPSMyCity is doing some really cool and creative things here in the travelsphere.
So many bloggers write different kinds of city guides: walks, points of interest, historical places, markets, museums, parks, or even shopping. GPSMyCity has seen the potential in all this by working with all sorts of different bloggers and turning their city guides into real, GPS-guided travel apps that travelers can download and use while in those respective cities.
So, take my guide to Hvar, Croatia for example. I have listed in it all the best places to adventure, the best places to watch the sunset, the best places to eat, and the best places to go out in Hvar in the post. And now working with GPSMyCity, my Hvar guide will be available and downloadable as an actual app that will be linked to maps. So, when travelers arrive on the island, they won’t have to search each individual place I mentioned; they can pull up the map and easily guide themselves through all my points of interest all in one place as an app, and read my commentary as well.
My Hvar Guide will actually be available as a free download for the next week as a part of the app’s release. So if you are planning a visit to Croatia anytime soon, grab it while you can!!
My Korcula Guide and soon enough my Dubrovnik guide will also be converted into apps, and I can guaretee to you these are the most comprehensive guides you’ll find, coming from a tour guide herself! And now that you have all the points of interest literally programmed into a live map, it’s much more convenient and all-in-one-place.
How the App Works
GPSMyCity has over 5500 self-guided walking tours for over 700+ cities worldwide. Many of the cities have multiple different walks to choose from, and you can guide your own tour for a fraction of the price of a real walking tour.
It gives you specific directions, and because all the tours are linked to travel articles written by experienced bloggers and locals, you can read great commentary as well.
Also, the articles are available offline, which is especially important for travelers. No data plan needed! If you want to upgrade it you can get GPS navigation to the signts described in the article.
It’s pretty much like you have turned a travel article into your very own tour guide. Pretty cool, if you ask me! Check out the GPSMyCity website to read more specifics about how it works.
My Available Articles
Currently, two of my articles are available on the app:
Hvar, Croatia – Adventure & Sunset Guide (this one is free for this week as a giveaway! There are lots of other giveaways, too)
And there will be more coming soon!
Leave a comment below if you got the app and let me know what you think!!
