There are LOTS of things to do in Dana Point harbor, from walking the pathways around its edges to the trails up on the bluffs overlooking it, to sailing, boating & shopping
Just across from the Ocean Institue (and where the historic Pilgrim ship used to be before it sank) is the Chilcote Family Customs House.
It’s a short trail connecting the two streets on the bluff, presenting an incredible vantage point of the Dana Point Harbor.
This is a statue of a sailor throwing a hide down the cliff to the beach. Legend says that cow hides were a great trading currency with ships coming through the area
If you park at the Ocean Institute, you can find the caves easily if you hug the cliffs walking north at low tide. It’s a scenic hike for sure.
