Best Bocas del Toro Resorts + Hotels: Guide on Where to Stay

Even if Bocas del Toro sometimes comes off as a bit of a backpacker paradise, there are a LOT of options for Bocas del Toro resorts and hotels for the traveler who wants a bit more luxury. I mean, it would be silly not to capitalize on the more luxurious market when you’re on the Carribbean Sea, right?!

I spent quite a while in Bocas del Toro, making my way between Bocas del Toro hostels and some nicer places while I was working on a boat tour. Keep in mind that Bocas del Toro is still in a remote part of the Caribbean, so most accommodation options including ‘resorts’ will often be a bit more on the rustic side. Keep in mind when booking that many of the most amazing will still have only 3 or 4 stars.

Luckily, I was able to check out quite a few of the options below during my time in Bocas del Toro. From fancy and inclusive resorts to cute hotels, to private rooms in a more social space, here are a few of your best options:

Bocas del Toro Resorts + Getaways

Red Frog Beach Island Resort & Villas (Red Frog Beach, Bastimentos)

Stars: 5

Good For: A private getaway for larger groups

Red Frog Resort is for LUXE travelers and is probably my top pick for Bocas del Toro Resorts and super-nice accommodation. I got to see some of the villas on my sailing trip, and WOW are they incredible!

Villas range in size, but most have three rooms, WiFi, aircon, TV, kitchen, a mini pool, and more. You basically don’t have to leave…. ever. Prices range by season, so check if you can get a good deal!

Nayara Bocas del Toro (Private Island)

Stars: 5

Good For: A true luxury, splurge-worthy stay

If you do want something that feels like an actual resort, this is it. Owerwater villas rea becoming a bigger thing here in Bocas, and Nayara taks it to a whole new level. Nayara is easily one of the most high-end, polished stays in Bocas – the overwater villas have insane design details and private pools, and feels boujie from the second you arrive.

The property is on it;s own private island, so it’s very much a stay-in-your-own-little-world kind of place, not a socializing one. Definitely a splurge, but if you’re celebrating something or just want to balance out a trip with a few nights of full comfort, this is the one.

Roam Yoga & Wellness Lodge (Bastimentos)

Stars: 4

Good For: A design-forward, wellness-focused escape that still feels social

Roam is one of those places that just makes you feel calm and centered as soon as you arrive. It’s tucked away on Bastimentos and leans fully into the whole yoga/wellness vibe, but without being overly serious or retreat-y (you know the type). Think open-air spaces, jungle-meets-ocean views, and a really intentional, design-led, boutique-y feel that’s actually hard to find in Bocas.

It’s definitely more of a boutique wellness lodge than a traditional resort, so come here if you want to slow down a bit – morning yoga, good food, maybe a dip in the ocean, and not much else on the agenda. It’s also a nice contrast if you’ve spent a few days in Bocas Town already and want a reset.

Punta Caracol Aqua Lodge

Stars: 3

Good For: Overwater villas (but cheaper) great for a getaway!

The Punta Caracol Aqua Lodge brings a bit of Maldives vibes to Panama, still with a distinct Caribbean touch. With ten 2-story overwater villas and a common restaurant space, this is honestly a perfect place to immerse yourself in the scenery and get away.

It is an eco-friendly accommodation with palm roofs and solar panels, so make sure to be aware of that and up for a bit of an adventure and this could be the perfect Bocas del toro resort for you!

Island Plantation (Bluff Beach, Isla Colon)

Stars: 3.5

Good For: Boutique Beachy getaway with yoga and surfing

Located on Bluff Beach, roughly a 30-minute drive or an hour bike ride from Bocas Town, you’ll find Island Plantation. This is one of the nicer hotels in the area, on one of the best surfing beaches as well. This property is adults-only and offers two restaurants and bars on site.

You will be more secluded here, but also very accessible to Bocas Town and all activities thereof. The rooms are spacious yet rustic, and they have a beachy plantation feel! There’s a yoga platform and a pool – what more could you need>

Best Bocas del Toro Hotels + Suites

S Boutique Hotel (Bocas Town)

Good For: A super cute boutique stay that’s still central

If you want to stay in Bocas Town but avoid anything that feels too backpacker-y or basic, S Boutique is one of the nicest options right now. It’s modern, clean, and actually feels like someone thought about the design (which, let’s be honest, is not always the case in Bocas).

Rooms are sleek, aircon works properly (which is important lol), and the location is super central without being chaotic or too loud. It’s not a “resort experience,” but it’s a really solid pick if you want comfort, good aesthetics, and easy access to everything.

Hotel Bocas del Toro (Bocas Town, Isla Colón)

Stars: 4

Good For: A Comfortable and spacious room right in town

This one is definitely a hotel and not a resort, but it is one of the best hotels in Bocas del Toro. You really can’t get any more central than this place, which has a rustic charm, beautiful spacious rooms (buy only a few so book early), and also overlooks the water. For a more affordable hotel, this would be my top pick.

Hotel Bocas Town (Bocas Town, Isla Colon)

Stars: 3

Good For: A basic room in town

Hotel Bocas Town looks out over the water and is perfectly situated right in town. This one is similarly basic yet comfortable and well-suited if you need privacy and closeness to the town. It also has a nice deck over the water where you can watch the boats come in and out. Look for the 4-story pink building – you can’t miss it.

Tropical Suites Hotel (Bocas Town, Isla Colon)

Stars: 4

Good For: boutique rooms overlooking the water

This is another perfectly located boutique hotel overlooking the water right in Bocas Town. It is well-rated, has great service, and has nice big rooms.

Many rooms have large balconies overlooking the water, and they have a few two-bedroom penthouse units for families or larger groups.

Coral Cay Cabins + Restaurant (Remote Cay off Isla Bastimentos)

Good For: A secluded and rustic getaway for snorkeling/kayaking, or a day trip

Cayo Coral is a remote area most typically known for snorkeling, day trips, and dinner over the water, but also has a little lodge in the middle of mangrove trees on a tiny Cay off an island next to Bastimentos. This would be a great Bocas del Toro resorts option if you really want to feel secluded and away from it all.

They have an amazing restaurant that serves fresh seafood – I had the best lobster of my life here! This place is great for a getaway. * it’s unclear if they still offer the rooms, try contacting the property directly to see if you can still stay!
