Boutique Hotels Cozumel: Where to Stay in Cozumel for Fun + Uniqueness

While known for resorts, there are actually some really cute boutique hotels in Cozumel as well. Many travelers flock here to all-inclusive resorts (or from cruise ships in ‘normal times’), but if you travel in a different style and want to experience the area more authentically, this Cozumel boutique hotels guide is for you.

The boutique hotels below range from budget city-center rooms to trendy ocean-view rooms to cute hacienda-style properties – some of which are within walking distance to everything and some of which are more secluded for a getaway. These are perfect for Cozumel scuba diving and all of the island adventures.

Keep reading to see which one is perfect for your needs and budget! I even included the island’s best hostel for anyone interested in a more communal experience of places to stay in Cozumel.

Unfortunately, even though I did travel to each of these boutique hotels in Cozumel myself and take photos, my phone was stolen by the Tulum police shortly after and I had not had time to back it up 🙁 So I have pulled photos from hotels(.)com that will hopefully give you a great idea of what they are like (even they won’t be from my personal experience).

Boutique Hotels in Cozumel: Here are some unique places to stay in Cozumel for those in search of a fun and boutique experience in Cozumel rather than a huge resort. Whether you want to stay in town or away from it all, you'll find a great option for you here!

Hotel B Unique is truly a Cozumel gem. If you are wondering where to stay in Cozumel for amazing views, great food, luxury, and seclusion… this is your answer! Hotel B is in the northern hotel zone, which means it’s a bt farther than the bustling town and really stands on its own with everything you need inside.

With 29 well-designed ocean-view rooms, a spa on-site, yoga classes, multiple pools, and even occasional live music or dj’s, this is the place to stay on Cozumel for young professionals and fun-seekers with a tiny bit more money to spend.

This is definitely a more unique Cozumel hotel that strays from the common resort-style rooms that you can find most places on the island… It adapts more of what I would call a Tulum-style vibe, and is the only of its kind on the island.

Best Cozumel Boutique Hotel for Budget Ocean Views: Hotel Vista Del Mar

If you are on a bit of a budget but still want to wake up to a view of the beautiful blue sea, Hotel Vista del Mar might be the best choice for you. We were on a budget while here and this is where we stayed for 5 days and were really happy for the price (I had so many photos from the balcony but I lost them all 🙁 )

Vista del Mar has extra large rooms with either a king bed or two queens – all with TV’s (only cable unfortunately), air con, and a balcony (some face backwards though so make sure to reserve an ocean view if you want one). The sunsets are perfect from the balcony – especially with a bottle of rose!

Vista del Mar is the best of all worlds – walking distance from town, fairly priced, and with amazing views. It is quite dated to be honest – I think they won ‘best boutique hotel in Cozumel’ about 10 years ago – but they have renovated well and are continuing to do so.

Best Cozumel Boutique Hotel Near the Airport: Casita de Maya Boutique Hotel Cozumel

For a super cute Mexican-style boutique hotel RIGHT by the airport, check out Casita de Maya. Designed like a true casita, this adorable hotel is decked out in orange adobe with classic architectural styles. Along with the common pool are a kitchen area and lots of space to relax.

Some rooms open right up to the large common pool area, while others on the second, third, and fourth floor have a bit of a view out to the middle of the island. They have rooms in many different styles from large king rooms to smaller rooms with two twin beds.

While not the completely ideal location on Cozumel, this would be a perfect place to stay before or after a flight of if you have a car/scooter to get around easily.

Best Budget Cozumel Boutique Hotel in the Town Center: Casa del Solar Centro Cozumel

Casa del Solar might be the most unassuming of Cozumel boutique hotels, but it is kindof like a hidden gem. If you walked past this guest house on the street you wouldn’t bat an eye or notice anything, but once you get inside it opens up to a very cute and VERY affordable space.

With only 7 rooms and starting at only $25 a night for private rooms, this is a great choice if you’d like to be in the city center on a budget. You are literally ONE block from the ocean and steps from some of Cozumel’s best restaurants – location couldn’t be better (unless there was an ocean view)!

The $25 rooms sleep 2 with a fan, but if you want to go up to the $40 or $50 rooms you will have A/C, a fridge, more space, etc. The room pictures is the family room.

Comprised of authentic studios and suites complete with wooden furniture, classic architecture, and archways, the Hacienda San Miguel hotel in Cozumel is a beautiful option. You’ll truly feel like you are staying in an old Mexican hacienda with the pink walls, painted tiles, and beautiful courtyard perfect for relaxing with a book.

This boutique hotel is just half a block from the beach and close to tons of restaurants – you can walk everywhere! Pretty much all fo the rooms here have two beds and a balcony space and simply range in side and orientation.

If you want a boutique experience that feels like true Mexico in Cozumel, check this place out.

Best Cozumel Boutique Hotel on the East Coast: Ventanas Al Mar

When I say Ventanas Al Mar is the best Cozumel boutique hotel on the east coast… I kinda mean it’s the ONLY one. Cozumel’s east coast is mostly wild – with big rough waves crashing onto long beaches, dotted with a few beach clubs and restaurants here and there.

Ventanas Al Mar is the only place where you can truly wake up and look out to Cozumel’s east coast, and it’s also on the same property as one of the most famous bars to stop at on Cozumel road trips – Coconuts. This is the ideal hotel if you want to stay somewhere a bit more secluded and rugged in Cozumel – miles from everything else but the amazing view.

The rooms are basic but cute – with mostly white and blue coloring and all with ocean views. With this exclusive location comes a bit of a higher price point (just upwards of $100) but it’s worth it!

Best Fun Boutique Hostels in Cozumel

I’ll never forget my hostel roots – I still LOVE to stay in hostels and I know some of you do, too. Here are some of the coolest Cozumel hostels!

Best Cozumel Hostel for Community: Amigos Hostel Cozumel

Amigos Hostel Cozumel Island Mexico

Amigos Hostel in Cozumel opens up from an unassuming big green door entrance to a HUGE courtyard with tables, a pool, and dorm rooms galore (all with ensuite bathrooms). This is a more rustic and authentic hostel rather than a trendy one – it will feel like staying with a family!

With plenty of common space to relax, a shared kitchen, a billiards table, and a multi-level pool, this would be the one of the best places to stay in Cozumel for a sense of community and to make friends.

That’s it for boutique hotels in Cozumel! Which one did you pick? Should I add more to the list? Let me know in the comments!!
