While Solomon Islands hotels and accommodation options may not be quite as extensive as, well, many other places, there are still plenty of options. There are lots of places to find Honiara accommodation, and plenty of options for Solomon Islands Accommodation on other islands such as Gizo, Munda, New Georgia, and other more remote islands as well.
I do want to point out that I have used the word ‘rustic’ in the title of this article; this is because there aren’t many places to stay in the Solomon Islands that are not at least a little bit rustic! Some of the higher-level accommodation here will compare to lower-level accommodation elsewhere, and this is just something you’ll have to get used to about visiting the Solomon Islands.
Most of your beach bungalows will be made of loose-fitting wood with mosquito nets over the beds. Sometimes the only hotel in a small town will have small-yet-quaint rooms, and if you find air conditioning or wifi, that’s quite a massive win. But the magic of visiting the Solomn Islands is the most important part, and you should never forget to step outside, take a deep breath of fresh air, and marvel at the unique views in one of the least-visited countries in the world.
Check out my massive, totally comprehensive Solomon Islands Travel Guide here if you haven’t already, and learn about ALL the things you NEED to know before you plan your trip (and how to plan it, where to go, etc). But for now, here are some great Solomon Islands hotels you should consider booking for your trip.

Solomon Islands Hotels in Honiara
Honiara is probably the airport you will first fly into when arriving in the Solomon Islands – on the island of Guadalcanal. Honiara has some of the country’s most fascinating War memorabilia, monuments, and museums, as well as an amazing central market, a few must-see museums, and more.
Whether you spend lots of time here is up to you, but I suggest spending a few nights getting acquainted with the Solomon Islands culture and history here before heading straight to the beach!
Honiara definitely has some of the nicest hotels in the Solomon Islands, so this is the place to splurge out on a bit of proper luxury while you can! Grab a nice room at any of the hotels below, take a swim in the pool(s), and enjoy the variety of options when it comes to restaurants and food. Other places do not have as much variety!

Heritage Park
Type: Beachfront + Central hotel with gardens
Good For: Comfortable luxury with pool, weekly events, beach bar, restaurant in-house, and proximity to the central market, continental breakfast
Stars: 4
This was my Honiara hotel, and definitely provided the most comfort out of all the places I stayed in the Solomon Islands Heritage Park has a few two-story buildings set throughout a property full of gardens, grassy fields, and palm trees. I was impressed from the moment I arrived with the large rooms and even two-bedroom apartment-style villas. It’s right on the water, and has an area with a beach bar and food menu right by the pool.
Heritage Park has impressive hospitality and an even more impressive continental breakfast in the morning. Their restaurant is top-notch as well, with tons of different food options. You can easily walk to the central market and town center from here, too – it’s a standout for top picks of Solomon Islands hotels.

Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel
Type: Waterfront hotel with pools + restaurants
Good For: a more affordable yet still nice Honiara hotel
Stars: 4
The Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel is a more affordable hotel in Honiara that is also right in the city center. Beating out Heritage Park by a couple of hundred meters, Kitano Mendana is the closest of the Honiara Hotels to the central market.
It also boasts two pools and two restaurants right on the property, wifi (up to a certain limit), and air conditioning. It definitely ticks all the boxes, but make sure to read the reviews to see if it is right for you.

Coral Sea Resort + Casino
Type: Ultra Luxe Villas with extra amenities
Good For: a more luxurious resort-style experience
Stars: 5
One of the few Solomon islands resorts with 5 stars, the Coral Sea Resort + Casino offers gorgeous sea-view villas with two amazing restaurants with high-end and differing food options. They do indeed have a casino as well, with a variety of different card games and gambling options for a bit of something different. There’s a pool and a bar, good breakfast included, and the rooms are apartment-style.
It’s still walkable to the city center yet removed enough to reel remote – and I mean, this is the kind of hotel that you don’t necessarily need to leave for too many reasons! You have everything you need right on the property, and this is another of my top picks for fancy Solomon Islands hotels. Take the luxury while it’s available while in Honiara!

King Solomon Hotel
Type: Central Hotel Rooms with an Island Vibe
Good For: Basic Necessity in a good location
Stars: 4
The King Solomon Hotel comes at a fairer price point than most of the above yet some would agree it’d also be at a small sacrifice in quality. The King Solomon hotel is decorated with a strong island vibe throughout, and the rooms are spacious and basic.
The amenities here are great; there are two bars that host weekend events such as live music and karaoke, and a ‘waterfall’ pool. They will have live cultural performances too where you can learn a bit more about the culture!

Savo Sunset Lodge
Type: Basic Island lodging
Good For: Being able to stay a day or a few on Savo Island to do more adventures
Savo Sunset Lodge is located on Savo island – a volcanic island just off the coast from Honiara and visible from most of the coastline. Savo could be seen as one of the adventure capitals of the Solomon Islands, with lots of hiking (including up the volcano), waterfalls, fish and dolphin hatcheries/nurseries, and more!
Savo is easily visited as a day trip from Honiara, but Savo Island Lodge is the place to stay if you want to stay longer to experience more. It’s a very basic hotel with just the necessities – beds, sink, etc. But you’ll only be a few steps to the water no matter which room you get, which has enough appeal in itself!

Solomon Islands Hotels in Gizo
Gizo is probably the most popular destination in the Solomon Islands. Gizo is made up of hundreds of islands, and is actually famous because the airport is merely a landing strip on a makeshift island!
Gizo is full of scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, boating, and EVERYTHING water-related. This is why most of the Solomon Islands hotels around Gizo are also overwater or at least next to the water!
For more info on what to do in Gizo, check out my Solomon Islands Guide. Check out these awesome Gizo accommodation options below.

Fatboys Resort
Type: Rustic Beach bungalows
Good For: a gorgeous island getaway with good amenities (other than wifi, ha)
Stars: 4
Fatboys Resort is one of Gizo’s staples! Located about a 10-minute speedboat ride from Gizo airport, Fatboys is the island getaway you’ve been looking for. The main reception is an overwater bungalow restaurant + eating area with a bar, a billiards table, hammocks, and snorkels to use right off the deck.
The rooms are all along the beach of the small thin island the resort is on. There are some one-bedroom and two-bedroom bungalows, all sitting within earshot of the waves. Each morning there are banana pancakes and daily restaurant menus. They can also organize your tours to many different locations or for fishing.

Sanbis Resort
Type: Secluded Island bungalows
Good For: Island getaway on the beach for couples or larger groups
Sanbis Resort is on the other side of the same island as Fatboys Resort, and is similarly awesome! Sanbis also boasts an overwater reception area with opportunities to swim and dive, a bar, two restaurants, and even a resident dog!
Sanbis has cozy bungalows for two which look right out to the sea, and also a few larger and more luxurious unity (one with its own pier)! They can also organize all kinds of tours around the area for you.

Imagination Island
Type: Overwater island hotel
Good For: Complete seclusion and fishing!
Stars: 3
Imagination Island is a tiny little coral reef quay that has been converted into a resort with all overwater rooms and a large main area with darts, a bar, and a restaurant.
With only a small number of rooms on the island, the stay here is guaranteed to be intimate – and they have great food on-site as well. The area couldn’t be more perfect for snorkeling, SUP, and diving, and fishing trips can also be arranged.

Gizo Hotel
Type: Hotel rooms in town
Good For: a more affordable hotel option right in Gizo town
Stars: 3
Gizo Hotel is located quite literally across the road from the Gizo central market and port. With a MUCH higher capacity than some of the other Gizo accommodation options, Gizo Hotel is a great option at a much smaller price.
Gizo Hotel has a pool and a second-floor restaurant that looks out to the main street. While you may not be able to snorkel right from your room, you can still book plenty of tours and adventures right from the hotel’s tour desk here too.

Oravae Cottage
Type: Private cottages on a remote island
Good For: secluded getaway for the whole family/groups
Stars: 3
The Oravae Cottages are located about a 15-minute boat ride from Gizo on their very own island that’s owned by the family that runs the property. Each cottage is rustic and wooded, with room for at least a family if not a larget group looking for a getaway.
Each cottage looks right out at the water (if not overwater), and is complete with a balcony and all the comfortable fittings of a room. Staying here includes specially prepared meals, too. They can help you organize pickups and all activities you could desire.
Solomon Islands Hotels in/around Munda
Munda is yet another amazing destination in the Solomon Islands with plenty of accommodation options. They may not be quite as dreamy as some of the overwater villas in Gizo, but there are plenty of adventures in the area to make up for it.
For more info on what to do in Munda, check out my Solomon Islands Guide.

Agnes Gateway Lodge
Type: Waterside Basic Lodge
Good For: Staying right in the middle of Munda, food, + convenience
Agnes Gateway Lodge is one of two main hotels in Munda Town. Agnes Gateway has its own pier where boats can come in from other islands, and a large outdoor restaurant area and tour booking desk. Agnes Gateway is the main place in Munda to come, have a meal, use half-decent wifi, and book tours to lagoons, waterfalls, islands, and museums around the area.
The rooms are basic lodge rooms and really have all you need in a stay. This is a great hotel to come and regroup and plan further travel. The food is amazing as well.

Qua Roviana Hotel
Type: Basic rooms in the center with a shared kitchen
Good For: a cheaper option to base yourself to explore Munda (and cook for yourself too)
Stars: 2.5
Qua Roviana is actually where I stayed in Munda. The rooms are basic yet comfortable, and the fact that they had air con was enough to win me over from the start! This property (I guess it’s actually classified as a motel) is one of the most affordable Solomon Islands accommodations as it also has the option for beds in a shared dormitory as well as private rooms.
Qua Roviana is right across the street from Agnes Gateway which many travelers go to for a meal or to chill in the restaurant area. Or, unlike many solomon islands hotels, you can actually cook for yourself at Qua Roviana (using produce from the market across the street perhaps) – who knows, after traveling a while you might miss it!

Titiru Eco Lodge (Rendova Island)
Type: Remote Eco Lodge near a village
Good For: Inclusive, cultural, and remote stay in eco-bungalows on the water
Titiru eco-lodge is one of the most unique places to stay in the Solomon Islands. This lodge is more of an all-encompassing experience. You are greeted with a cultural display upon arrival to the lodge, their chefs make delicious meals in the common area, and you can even do an immersive cultural walk through nearby Ughele Village.
They have a few different sizes of overwater eco bungalows which are rustic and lovely. They have kayaks and other kinds of adventure tours ready and waiting for you to take part, as well as other walks and adventures around the island. Try some of the fresh catch or relax on your balcony.

Zipolo Habu Resort (Lola Island)
Type: Rustic island resort
Good For: Everything from quaint bungalows for couples to deluxe bungalows
Zipolo Habu is another lovely and rustic resort located on a rather remote island with incredible views. This one is about a 20-minute boat ride from Munda, and has great island views and mangrove forests with trees growing right from the beach.
Zipolo Habu is family-owned, and has a range of different kinds of bungalows ranging in luxuriousness. They have a bar and restaurant right on the property and can sign you up for plenty of tours to surrounding islands, skull island, and scenic points in the lagoon.
Solomon Islands Hotels in Other Areas + Unique Accommodation
If you REALLY want to go off-the-beaten-track, here are a few super unique and very remote Solomon Islands hotels that I heard about from our guides from the tourist board and some posters around the country. When I return I will be checking them out for sure!

Uepi Island Resort
Type: Beach bungalows on a rustic diving resort
Good For: extra remote diving and snorkeling on a sandy quay
Uepi Island Resort is located on a remote quay off the opposite side of New Georgia Island as Munda. This resort isn’t too close to any airports, but that’s exactly its appeal. Uepi offers a bar, restaurant, and private bungalows spaced along the beach.
Uepi is well-suited for diving, which is one of the main draws of this resort. The water right out in front of the bungalows is simply perfect, and each day here will surely be filled with diving, snorkeling, SUP, swimming, and maybe some beach volleyball. It’s an island paradise!

Zela Adventure Lodge
Zela Adventure Lodge is probably one of the most immersive of the Solomon Islands accommodations. The property mostly functions as a field research and guest station, with different kinds of conservation and research effors basing themselves there.
Although it’s mostly for researchers, you can still stay here if you want a very traditional experience. This is the kind of place without any reception that turns on the power just for a couple of hours in the evenings. Bungalows will be rustic with moquito nets, but right there on the beach. If you need a proper getaway, this could be it. Make sure to take part in some cultural displays!

Tetepare Island Eco-Lodge
Tetepare is, similarly to Zela Adventure Lodge, VERY immersive. By this, I mean that there is absolutely no electricity (except solar power for the kitchen area), leaf huts with rainwater showers and toilets, and untouched coral reefs with sea life galore.
It’s a bit of an effort to get here (2 hours from Munda), but most say that it was worth the effort. Tetepate only accommodates a maximum of 16 people, and it will feel as if you’ve gone back in time (except with the freshly prepared food each day).

Imbu Rano Lodge
One of the few few guest houses on Kolombangara Island, Imbu Rano is a true escape. Kolombangara is the volcanic mountainous island that’s visible from most places in Gizo – but few ever actually go! Kolombangara is known well for its fantastic bird-watching and hiking, but other than that it flies under the radar for places to look for Solomon Islands hotels very easily.
Imbu Rano is set right in the middle of the jungle, with a 380ft elevation (read: amazing view) and also a view straight to the peak of the Mt. Rano Volcano. It’s a great place to stay, again, for hikers and birdwatchers and lovers of the jungle alike. Expect another immersive experience – meaning not much power, no wifi, and a shared kitchen!
