Are you considering booking an AmazingCo experience but aren’t totally sure if it’s legit? My AmazingCo review will tell you ALL about our afternoon doing the AmazingCo mystery picnic in San Francisco, and (spoiler alert) will probably convince you to book one as well because it was absolutely AMAZING (get it)?
When AmazingCo first reached out to me, I thought it was a SUPER cool idea. Like, a scavenger hunt picnic all over the city?! Sign me up! I wasn’t sure if the experience would deliver after the buildup (I do love scavenger hunts), but I was pleasantly surprised.
I was also really impressed with their other selections of fun things to do both at home and out and about in different cities all over the world, and I wished they had existed during c*vid because I could have REALLY used an in-home bar crawl or a murder mystery party to have a uniquely fun time at home.
Disclaimer: I was hosted by AmazingCo on my Mystery Picnic to become an affiliate (meaning link to them on my blog for a commission) and post on social media. I only agreed to add a couple links and but I decided to write this review on my own accord to get straight to the point. Everything is truthful and authentic of my experience! Check out my video below (spoiler alert for SF Mystery Picnic).
What is AmazingCo?
AmazingCo is a company that organizes EXPERIENCES for couples, friends, or groups to have a fun and unique time. Experiences can be at-home or in any of the dozens cities they cover (so far) in 5 countries (USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and UK).
I know I keep using the word ‘unique,’ but I honestly haven’t seen a company like AmazingCo before. It’s kinda my ‘thing’ to find the most unique and boutique experiences as I travel (hence my blog’s tagline), which is why I love the idea of AmazingCo so much.
They create experiences at home that are different and more fun than what people usually do at home. They create experiences in different destinations that truly capture the pulse of that place – trying local food and drink and exploring a place’s history and fun facts through fun scavenger hunts and tours.
Here are some of the experiences you can book with them:
At-Home AmazingCo Experiences

Here are the experiences that they offer for you to do AT HOME wherever in the world you may be. If you are stuck at home, locked down, or just looking for something DIFFERENT to do with your partner, family, or friends, these are an epic idea.
They are all digitally delivered to your phone, but you may need to provide some ingredients or supplies. They add new experiences all the time.
- Girls Night In – games and pamper experiences at home
- Mother Daughter Girls Night In – perfect bonding time (or perfect gift)!
- Virtual Challenge Parties (gameshow-style cometititions for family, friends, or kids with or without host)
- Murder Mystery Party
- Foodie Date Nights – 10 different food-based activities including cooking, tasting, trivia, crafts. Only $25 and you provide ingredients. This sounds so fun to me; it’s my next choice for sure!
- Online Trivia Night: Trivia with a video called-in host! Choose from categories and play all together or from multiple house (family fun idea)?
- Couples Challange Month – a whole MONTH os challenges and bonding activities with your partner! Epic. (February Only)
- 12 Games of Christmas – Family Fun
- At-Home Romantic Date Night – no leaving the house required
AmazingCo In-Person Experiences
They also have experiences that are tied to specific destinations, such as their signature experience, the Mystery Picnic (see below). But AmazigCo Me offers more than just Mystery Picnics (although you must try your city’s mystery picnic too).
Their other experiences depend heavily upon where you are booking them from, but they seem to be developing more experiences by the day. What I love about AmazingCo Experiences is that they are perfect to have a new adventure with friends/family/partner in the city you live in, OR to get to know anywhere that you are visiting. They are fun whether you are at home or traveling!
All their experiences really get down to the local level in terms of trying different food and drinks and exploring destinations, so I can only assume they have a knowledgeable local team on the ground in each place that are working hard to tap into that city’s personality.
Here are some things they might offer in your city:
- Murder Mystery Wedding – tailored to your location
- Murder Mystery Weekend -a whole planned-put weekend mystery party! Fun!
- Mystery Weekends – without the murder but still mystery
- Family Date Night – fun things in your city
- Mytery Picnic with Friends – for groups
- Mystery Picnic Date – for couples who want to have a fun bonding time!
- I think they have more food and drink tours coming also!
AmazingCo Review- Mystery Picnic

And now, the AmazingCo reviews we have all been waiting for: The Mystery Picnic! I don’t want to sound too excited here (I promise they did not pay me for this lol) but I think the Mystery Picnic is one of the coolest and most fun + unique ideas I have come across on my travels.
I mean, a SCAVENGER HUNT that takes me to LOCAL places in touristy and non-touristy parts of the city, TEACHES ME THINGS about each suburb and local store we visit that I didn’t know, creates silly clues for my friends and me to figure out, gets us out exploring the city, and ENDS with a picnic in a beautiful place where we get to enjoy the food we collected? SIGN ME UP!
Our Mystery Picnic Experience
We did the Mystery Picnic in San Francisco, CA in the Haight and Ashbury region (they also offer one in Half Moon Bay and Sausalito I believe) and we had so much fun. I did it with a group of friends who were both local and foreign, and everyone had a great time and learned a lot of new things.
The organization of the whole thing was pretty brilliant actually. I feel like it was a scavenger hunt, a historical walking tour, a food crawl, a tribute to small businesses, and a tap into San Francisco’s beating heart all at the same time.
I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who might be doing the San Francisco Mystery Picnic, so I’ll just give a little summary. They tell you what to bring beforehand too, including walking shoes, cups, and picnic supplies. We supplemented it with alcohol of course 😉
What Our Mystery Picnic Was Like

A SF spot that our hunt recommended we visit
Selfie on the corner of Haight and Ashbury!
We started out at home figuring out the clue to the first destination. We were able to walk, but I assume most people will need to drive. Each time we figured out a clue, we would land on a page about the next destination with a fun and interesting little blurb about its history, owners, or mission statement before we arrived.
The collections were quite seamless too – our food items were all ready in the places they were supposed to be (sometimes with a short wait). It was really cool to collect food from places knowing a bit about their story and that we were supporting local businesses.
The Mystery Picnic took us through a couple of iconic neighborhoods in SF, and all the while gave us recommendations of local shops and viewpoints to check out along the way. We were assured by our little digital scavenger hunt to take our time, have fun, and explore, and we definitely did! It was like our own tiny private guide inside our phones who planned out a day of fun.
We had plenty of food on our AmazingCo Mystery Picnic. We ended up with a few bottles of sparkling water, two kinds of cheese and jams, a few salads, some sliced deli meat, a HUGE loaf of freshly baked bread, some delicious designer cupcakes, and more. We had a few extra people meet us for a sunny park picnic and it was still plenty of food.
AmazingCo Mystery Picnic Conclusions
We had such a good time that my local friends were sending links to their friends at the end of the day (my affiliate link of course) and I had people asking me about AmazingCo from my Instagram stories.
Our Mystery Picnic experience delivered much more than we were expecting, and as I have said before, was so much fun for locals AND visitors. I had of course been to SF many times before, but I still learned new things and had a unique and adventurous experience.
I would love to try the Mystery Picnic next time I am visiting a new city as I think it would be a wonderful way to get to know an area that I haven’t been to before and see what some of the best areas and local vendors are.
I have heard great things about some of the Mystery picnics in different parts of Australia and the US, and will update this article whenever I try a new one!
AmazingCo as a Gift
I think an AmazingCo experience would be a PERFECT GIFT for a loved one. I mean, experiences are way better than material things, right? What better gift than some time bonding with someone? Opening up a fun time with someone is always a more heartfelt gift IMO.
Get your family, friends, or partner an experience in your city for their birthday or xmas… or get them a gift card so they can choose their own.
Mystery Picnic Disclaimers
I must state that this AmazingCo review is of our own experience on the SF Mystery Picnic. Of course I can’t speak for any other cities (yet) and I don’t know what it may be like in other destinations.
Our Mystery Picnic was in a city, but many of the other destinations are in smaller towns or countryside destinations, which I can imagine would be a different experience (although probably still super fun).
I would assume each destination is specifically tailored to get to know that certain place and the best food vendors in the area, but I would assume many smaller places don’t have as much variety and rich history as San Francisco does.
Also, I obviously can’t speak to the quality and amount of food in other places, but if you try a Mystery Picnic somewhere else, comment below and let me know! I can;t wait to try more of their experiences in other places (and at home) and see where they go as a company.
