If you are looking for Mornington Peninsula Accommodation, you have arrived at our mecca of a guide! As Eliot grew up on the Peninsula and I stayed there for quite some time, we are collectively VERY familiar with the area and its various options.
The first aspect of deciding on your Mornington Peninsula Accommodation is deciding which area to stay in. If you are looking to be near the Hot Springs or rock pools, you’ll want to stay around Cape Schanck, St Andrews, or Rye. If you want to be near all the wineries, you’ll want to stay in Red Hill or Main Ridge. If you want the upscale holiday beach vibes, you’ll want to stay in Sorrento/Portsea, or in the Mornington/Mt Martha/Mt Eliza area to stay a bit more low key on the bay.
We also included a lot of accommodation options, hotels, and Airbnbs in different areas that have their own unique charm – read each description to understand what type of trip/group each place would be most fitting for. We have listed the best Airbnb accommodation in the Mornington Peninsula, the most romantic Mornington Peninsula accommodation, the best Mornington Peninsula hotels, and then the best options for groups.

Best Area to Stay in Mornington Peninsula
As it’s a pretty large area, it can be tough to decide on the best area to stay in Mornington Peninsula. It depends if you are spending more time tasting wine or visiting beaches, but in any case I think the best areas to stay are usually central so you will be within a quick dive to any other Mornington Peninsula activities you want to do. Here are my picks:
For Views: Arthur’s Seat:
Arthur’s seat is VERY central, close to the beach, and has the best views on the Peninsula. This would be the best place to stay to get great views from your room and be centrally located.
For Rolling Hills, Space, and Wine: Red Hill/Main Ridge
The majority of the wineries in Mornington Peninsula are in this area. The Red Hill region features expansive areas of rolling hills and bush, and many secluded properties where you can have the entire thing to yourself (while still being next to wineries).
For Beaches: Mount Martha or Sorrento
Mount Martha is a really nice area just south of Mornington with some fantastic accommodation options, with close proximity to Mornington itself (and famous Mills Beach) and Arthur’s Seat.
Sorrento is closer to the tip of the Peninsula and is famous for having a front and a back beach in quite an affluent area. You’ll find great cafes and eateries, proximity to Point Nepean National Park, and is closer to the Peninsula hot springs.
