So, you are thinking of traveling to Argentina, and are wondering if you should get travel insurance for Argentina. First of all, I must congratulate you on the amazing choice in destination. Argentina is actually one of my favorite countries in the whole world due to its incredibly diverse landscapes, amazing food, fascinating culture, kind people, and amazing outdoor activities. It’s truly a spectacle, and is worth traveling from top to bottom.
But, before you start compiling your Argentina Bucket List, there are a few things you must know before you visit the country and before you start considering different kinds of Argentina travel insurance.

Places to Visit in Argentina
Argentina is one of the most geographically diverse countries I have been to. You can start with the snowy jagged mountain peaks of Patagonia, make your way to the amazing wine regions of Mendoza (hello, Malbec!), and spend some time wandering the European streets of Buenos Aires (and eating steak and dulce de leche of course… but not together).
Then, you can experience the jungles of one of the largest waterfalls in the world at Iguazu Falls, and make your way over to the red, yellow, and green mountains of high-elevation deserts in Northern Argentina.
Yep, you heard that correctly – snowy mountains, amazing wine regions, diverse cities, lush jungles, AND dry expansive deserts. Argentina really has it all! Check out all the places to visit in Argentina here.
Because there is so much to do here, it is important that you book travel insurance for Argentina. But give the likelihood that you will be doing a lot of outdoor adventures, you will want to make sure you are covered. I use Heymondo for my adventurous trips just for this reason.

Travel Insurance for Argentina
There are a lot of options when it comes to travel insurance for Argentina, but you must choose carefully. Because Argentina has so many diverse landscapes, you’ll want to make sure you are covered for all the activities you want to do.
Chances are that in Argentina you will be doing a lot of trekking, canyoning, rafting, biking, and more adventure activities. You can’t go to Patagonia without hiking or Iguazu without rafting! You will want to make sure you choose something that can cover you for extra activities, and also have 24/7 chat for emergencies and are always there to assist.
If you have expensive electronic equipment like I do, you will also want to make sure those are covered on your travel insurance for Argentina. Depending on where you travel, there may be more or less risk of theft, aggression, or more.
Argentina is great, but they aren’t exactly known for being on time. This is why it’s also important to have cancellation or delay cover in this country.
Lastly, there are some good hospitals in Argentina, but it’s paramount to have insurance if you end up getting injured in one of the many remote areas that are popular for outdoor sports and adventures, because you may have to travel far to get care.

Why Consider Heymondo for Travel insurance for Argentina
I am currently insured by Heymondo, and recommend it as a great travel insurance to use for Argentina travel insurance. To be completely honest, their prices are MUCH more reasonable than companies like World Nomads, and they offer VERY comparable services.
The reason you may not have heard of them yet is because, so far, they have been very successful in the Spanish and Italian markets. They have only just branched out into the English market recently, so are quite a new player in the field but show promise of being very successful.
My favorite features of Heymondo travel insurance are that they have 24/365 assistance (a total travel insurance must), industry-standard expense limits that are customizable to your own needs, affordable prices, and an app that you can have on your phone at all times just in case.
Annual and Long Stay Insurance
Heymondo also stood out to me because they have options for longer-term travelers such as myself – different kinds of plans that make sense not only for a short trip but for consistent travelers and digital nomads. If you travel a lot, you can check out their annual multi-trip plan (for which you must return to your country every 3 months at least). If you live on the road or are already traveling, you can check out their long stay travel insurance plans, which enable you to stay on the road and extend your plan whenever you want to.
This is the kind of flexibility I have been looking for at an affordable price, forever!
Adventure + Electronics Cover
One of my travel insurance pet-peeves is when something happens to you and you realize that your insurance did not cover the specific activity you were doing. Heymondo covers a whole list of adventure activities that you can purchase as an additional add-on (a must in my eyes and I love adventuring).
This is the main reason I think this plan would be best for travel insurance for Argentina. I spent nearly my whole time in Argentina outside – trekking, exploring, and doing things that other insurances would not cover. But I was!
HeyMondo App
Not many travel insurance companies have an app where you can chat with a doctor 24/7. For me this is a REALLY valuable resource because sometimes you don’t want to make a claim, you just want to have a few questions answered by someone who understands.
