You need some unique places to stay in Moab to meet the unique adventures and landscapes you’ll find in this beautiful place. I absolutely fell in love with Moab, and I know you will too, especially when you see how these stays complement the other-worldly landscape.
Located on the Colorado River, Moab is a peaceful city in Utah with a small-town ambiance, diverse cuisine, and incredible mountain trails winding up into one of the most unique and beautiful National Parks in the USA, Arches National Park.
Moab is synonymous with outdoor adventures. It is known as the mountain biking mecca of Utah. From hikers to bikers to climbers, Moab has something to offer to all types of outdoorists.
The city features some of the most exquisite scenery in the American Southwest, and there are hotels and vacation rentals to match this. Here are the top unique stays in Moab.

What to Know Before Visiting Moab
First of all, make sure you are prepared to visit Moab! I recommend planning your visit to Arches National Park from Moab beforehand, and make sure to make a reservation ahead of time if you are visiting in the summer.
It would be best to have a car (or rent a car) to visit Moab. Unless you choose one of the Moab unique stays below that are located in downtown (so you can walk to everything) and you book a tour to the National Park (so you have a driver), you will need a car.
*Most* of the properties I mention below are within a 5-20 minute drive of the National Park entrance and downtown Moab. Whether you are looking for a luxurious hotel, a cute vacation rental, or a cool AF glamping tent, we have curated something for you below.
Castle Valley Inn: Unique Moab Rooms in Nature

Located in Castle Valley on Amber Lane, Castle Valley Inn is a 3-star hotel with a rustic yet elegant interior. This is a great place to stay in Moab if you want to be surrounded by nature and incredible red rock views – to truly feel that you are amongst the vibe of Moab.
The hotel offers many different amenities, including breakfast, refrigerator, air conditioning, an adjoining kitchenette, and wifi among others. I can best describe the interiors as native American cabin chic (let’s make that a thing) with tribal patterns and wooden trimmings.
Castle Valley Inn is a family-friendly hotel with a relaxed climate. The inn has an outdoor hot tub with piped-up mineral water. The hotel has a beautiful eatery that serves eclectic American fare, but you can also reach the town and the National Park within 10-15 minutes.
Under Canvas Moab: Amazing Luxe Moab Glamping

Located a few miles from Arches National Park, Under Canvas Moab is a 3-star camping resort featuring safari tents with en suite bathrooms, sitting areas, and wooden decks. These are some of the coolest and most luxurious glamping tents you’ll find anywhere. They offer all the luxuries of a nice hotel but… inside a tent (or under a canvas… get it?).
This camp is located a bit farther away from it all so you still feel like you’re out in nature, but within 5-10 minutes of both Moab town and the National Park entrance. It couldn’t be better placed! This would be my pick for being out in nature in Moab.
From hiking to rock climbing to hot air ballooning, you can arrange outdoors activities here for a fee. It’s a perfect place to stay for outdoorists and nature enthusiasts looking to visit Arches National Park and stay in a unique glamping area.
Casa Moab: Unique Vacation Rental Apartment in Downtown

Located on Kane Creek Boulevard in downtown Moab, Casa Moab is a condo featuring a ritzy BBQ area, community sauna, dining hall, and five studio rooms, or casitas. All rooms have premium bedding, high ceilings, and rustic decor.
Due to its proximity to the city center, Casa Moab, Utah, offers easy access to all outdoor adventures of Moab, including hiking trails, water tubing, horse riding, and mountain climbing.
Note that you can book all five casitas separately, but they all offer the same shared spaces and amenities. I have linked Casita 1 and 2 below, but check which are available for your dates. Make sure to try out the super cool capsule-shaped sauna after a long day of hiking.
The Gonzo Inn – Unique Hotel in Downtown Moab

Located just off Main Street in downtown Moab Utah, The Gonzo Inn is a boutique condo-hotel featuring forty-three condo-style rooms. The design here is eclectic and colorful, with vibrant colors adorning the walls in a fun and non-intrusive way.
Guests can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub while being just steps away from the center of Moab. The hotel also has pet-friendly rooms, indoor and outdoor lounges, BBQ area, and unique hotel rooms with decor celebrating the natural beauty of Moab.
Villa #5: Downtown Condo In Moab With Rock Climbing Wall

Located on the top floor of La Dolce Vita Villa in downtown Moab, Villa #5 is a condo featuring sky-high ceilings, rock climbing walls, a fireman’s pole, and elevated bunk beds accessible only by ladders.
The whole rental is themed around rock climbing and the outdoors – a perfect unique stay for climbers or lovers of interesting and fun accommodation in Moab.
The two-bedroom apartment has an Italian interior with a modern touch. Scalatore #5 lies within walking distance of many restaurants, clubs, and shops in downtown Moab. If you want an inexpensive yet comfortable place to stay with easy access to the city center, this may be the best option for you.
Red Cliffs Lodge – Unique Moab Rooms on the River

Located on the banks of the Colorado River just off Highway 128, Red Cliffs Lodge is an exquisite 3-star hotel that stretches across 220 acres amid 2000-foot cliffs. The hotel features a simple American-style interior with wood-paneled walls and log furniture: a perfect supplement to the extravagant red rocky cliffs around it.
You can enjoy a wide range of accommodations at Red Cliffs Lodge, including single studio rooms with basic amenities and deluxe suites or two-bedroom suites with advanced features. With the room views here, you’ll hardly even feel like you need to enter the National Park!
Suites at Red Cliffs Lodge feature kitchenettes, living rooms, and private balconies overlooking the mighty Colorado River. The hotel has a casual eatery specializing in traditional Southern cuisine. It also has its very own film museum, tennis court, and Castle Creek winery on-site too! Amazing!
Sorrel River Ranch Resort – Insaaaane Moab Views

Located along the edge of the Colorado River, Sorrel River Ranch Resort is a ritzy resort with a whopping 160 acres of ranchland. The 4-star resort is one of the most luxurious lodging in Moab with its log cabins, wooden interior, and hand-crafted pine beds looking out towards the red mesas over the River. This would be my top pick for balcony views and amenities… It’s one of the only 4-star hotels on this list!
The luxury suites at Sorrel River Ranch Resort feature advanced amenities like kitchenettes, porches, and private balconies overlooking the river and nearby mountains. You can book a few different styles of rooms, but all have wonderful western-style design.
The hotel also has a cozy cafe, equestrian center, outdoor pool, hot tub, gym, hiking trails, and tennis courts. This is one of the best unique Moab stays if you want luxury!
ULUM Moab (Under Canvas sister property)

ULUM is basically what happens when Under Canvas grows up a bit and gets a design team involved. It’s still that same fully dropped into nature experience, but everything feels more elevated – bigger spaces, more thoughtful interiors, and honestly just a little more intentional overall.
The tents are more like luxury safari suites, with proper beds, beautiful bathrooms, and huge windows looking straight out onto the desert landscape. It still feels like you’re out in the middle of nowhere (in a good way), but you’re not sacrificing comfort to get that experience.
If you love the idea of glamping but want something that feels a bit more polished and less rugged, this is easily one of the coolest stays in Moab right now.
Wisteria Cottage – Unique Moab Rental for Couples

If you aren’t a hotel person and would prefer a cozy room surrounded with plants and a private space for yourself, Wisteria Cottage might be the move! This cute cottage has all the amenities of a hotel room, but in a private vacation rental with shared spaces among a couple other cottages.
You can use the communal grill or hot tub, or relax in your own little room. The best part about Wisteria Cottage is that it’s only a couple blocks from Moab main street!
Downtown Inn Moab: Unique Moab Rental for Groups

Downtown Inn Moab is a unique property in Moab comprised of 4 different units that can house 10 people. It’s PERFECT for groups or even wedding parties! It’s located within easy walking distance to downtown Moab but has everything you need on-site.
This Airbnb is one of the most unique places to stay in Moab because it combines modern industrial and minimalistic design with a large capacity for guests AND proximity to downtown Moab. That’s the trifecta if you ask me! There are fun loft bed areas too, and a patio/balcony with a spa. Yes and yes!
Moab Springs Ranch: Individual Units with Green Parks

Moab Springs Ranch feels super tucked away, even though it’s close to town. Instead of standard hotel rooms, you get little standalone bungalows and townhouses surrounded by greenery, walking paths, and these really nice little spring-fed ponds (which are a different kind of nature than most of the properties on this list have).
It’s quiet, spacious, and just feels a bit more “thoughtful” than your typical Moab hotel. You still have everything you need – pool, hot tub, easy access to town – but it feels way more relaxed and less like you’re staying in a busy tourist hub.
This is a really good middle ground if you want something unique and peaceful, but not totally off-grid.
Teardrop Trailer: Unique Camping in Moab

If you want to drift asleep to the sounds of the outdoors and wake up to spectacular views, renting a teardrop trailer is the perfect addition to camping in Moab. There are actually multiple places to rent teardrop trailers from to improve your experience; the link below is to Red Rocks trailers.
What makes a teardrop trailer one of the most unique places to stay in Moab is that your accommodation can go anywhere, and is delivered to you!
To stay in one, you’ll need to have a reservation at a Moab campsite. With your campsite reservation, the camping trailer will be dropped off and you’re ready to rock! But not roll, as guests are not currently allowed to move the trailers.
With that said, these trailers will ramp your camping experience up to 100! They offer a queen-size bed, an equipped kitchen with a gas stove, camp chairs, and much more. So if you’re looking to camp in style and comfort, on a campsite of your choice, these cute teardrop trailers won’t disappoint!
That’s my top 11 recommendations for unique places to stay un Moab, Utah – whether you’ll be commuting to Arches National Park every day or not! Moab has some of the most unique stays out of any America city, so it would be silly not to make the most of the fun and unusual accommodation options.
