Wonderfruit Festival had been on my list for MANY years, but it took their 10-year anniversary for me to finally be able to make the pilgrimage to Thailand in December for what I’d heard was one of the best festivals in the world. And let me tell you – my expectations were high, but Wonderfruit still exceeded all of them.
This isn’t particularly a festival you travel to for the lineup, rather one you travel to for the full range of experiences it offers… and you buy tickets with a full sense of trust that it will be curated to an incredible level, with some of the most phenomenal and varied music/artists most and unique offerings of any festival.

Planning a Trip to Wonderfruit
Wonderfruit is located just outside of Pattaya, which is about 90 minutes south of Bangkok. The best airport to fly into for Wonderfruit is BKK (Suvarnabhumi Airport) because it’s closer to Pattaya than the city and an easy cab ride from the airport to the festival area.
Many people choose to stay in hotels or villas around/in Pattaya and commute to the festival via taxi or Grab. Others camp on-site – more about that later. But while planning a trip to Wonderfruit, make sure to either book a camping/glamping option or a villa/hotel around Pattaya.

Wonderfruit Festival Location/Venue Outside Pattaya
The actual location of Wonderfruit is at The Fields at Siam Country Club, which is roughly 30-45 minutes from the center of Pattaya.
Lovingly known as ‘the fields,’ the Wonderfruit venue is stunningly gorgeous. There are indeed grassy fields, mostly spread over gently rolling hills, split up by some forested areas, small ravines, and stunning lakes. The layout of the venue with hidden nooks, hills that seem to hide what’s on the other side of them, and tree-covered stages you’d have to look to discover… is incredible, simply epic for a festival.
Here are the main places you should know:
Music Stages
Here are the stages you need to know about, spread out around the venue.
One of the things I truly adored the most about Wonderfruit, is that most of the stage have an open setting so there’s really no ‘backstage’ at all. A lot of the stages are actually set up in a more ‘Boiler Room” style setting where you can easily walk behind the stage and dance/watch from any angle, or the stages are simply set on ground level without anything blocking or separating you from the artists (I mean, maybe a security guard or two).
This is a really cool feature, and I can tell it was done very intentionally. Many of the stages/platforms also allow people to dance on them, right next to the artists. No one is more important or ‘VIP’ at Wonderfruit – it’s very inclusive.
Forbidden Fruit
Forbidden Fruit is a vibey stage artistically created from shade sails at the bottom of a hill on the border of a Lake. There’s lots of fun, funky tech house, disco, and upbeat dance music here, and lots of space on the hill around the stage to sit down, chill, and listen to the music.
Wonderness
Wonderness is the geometric stage at the center of the Wonderness area, with a highly varied program of mostly relaxing music and plenty of mattresses to lie on. With everything from DJs to handpan music, it’s always worth wandering in here.
The Quarry
Known by many as the coolest lightshow they have ever seen, the Quarry stage is quite hidden in the middle of the venue in a bit of a natural bowl covered by trees. You’d miss it if you didn’t stumble upon one of the entrances.
You can only enter and exit via a few staircases, so make sure to find them to locate what seems like a portal to another dimension and easily one of the coolest stages I’ve ever seen – a true forest rave. This stage plays mostly minimal house and techno.
Ziggurat
This stage is stunningly designed around a garden concept and a stage nearly in the middle of the tent. There’s tap beer here and lots of feel-good live music. Trust me, a tap beer once in a while totally hits the spot.
Creature Stage
The Creature Stage is the largest, most Coachella-style (but still cooler) stage at Wonderfruit. There’s a bit of a natural amphitheater here and it’s well-suited for lots of different types of live bands and acoustic music. Each time we passed here there was a really nice chill energy here.
Neramit
Neramit is a stunning, large, tent-style space with the most gorgeous flowing lights that reminded me of Martini glasses. Neramit is part food court, part DJ booth, part chill area, part sunrise dance floor. They encourage more experimental music here and welcome a range of great dj’s. They also have a unique cocktail bar here (and a lot of the food is amazing too).
SOT
I didn’t know SOT stood for ‘straight out of Thonglor,’ but it makes total sense. This stage is where all the rap, hip hop, and R&B of Wonderfruit reside, from throwback DJs to live performances. Oh, and a bar sponsored by White Claw.
Cheese Shack
I’m not sure why this is the name of what I lovingly referred to as the ‘Caviar and Karaoke Tree’ for the whole festival, but it’s definitely one of hte most epically fun and unique spaces at wonderfruit. There’s a platform wrapped around a massive, magical tree, all adorned with lights.
A bar serves bumps of caviar, and there are TV’s and micrphones positioned around the platform for karaoke. How wild is that? Apparently, it was inspired by Tokyo’s underground bars. Wonderfruit, you never cease to amaze.
Solar Village
This is Wonderfruit’s center for sunsets and sunrises, with a fun, doofy stage setup with honeycomb structures to climb and relax in. This is home to some of the best sets of the weekend, from a few well-known dj’s playing sunsets and truly well-curated incredible building 3 hour sunrise sets.
Baan Bardo
Baan Bardo has one of the most incredible deigns – almost like you’re standing inside a crytal ball. This is where the most experimental and unique music offerings take palce, from never-before-seen instruments to a dj set with singing and chanting monks. In the. daytime, this is a space for relaxed seminars and meditations.
Moonlight Lounge
This is the most ‘Burning Man’ of the stages music-wise, with all of the organic, melodic, bouncy, heavy beats. Lots of really interesting djs played here, and I learned a lot of names and songs from dancing here! The dj’s play on a mall platform under a huge moon, with a bar sponsored by Sangsom whiskey.
Molam World
This space curated by Amazing Thailand hosts a lot of local bands, Thai folk music, and everything celebrating Thai culture. The bands play on the stage, but there are lots of other unique incormporations of Thai culture here, including the super fun bus structure with a full museum to Thai music inside.
Forest Stage
Inside the ‘Ancestral Forest,’ there’s a hidden stage that has a few performances a day.
Workshop, Ceremony, Performance, and Healing Spaces
- Unconditional Space: an amphitheatre with the most experimental and forward-thinking of talks, screenings, and performance.
- Wonderness Water Zone: a space for healing practices associated with the water element.
- Wonderness Air Zone: a breezy space for movement workshops related to the air element
- Wonderness Fire Zone: A space in the Wonderness area for workshops related to body movement
- Taste of Wonder: This is the place to go for everything creative – buy local crafts or get your face painted or glittered, and dance to some pretty epic dj’s they have here (I once got stuck here for hours because the music was so good)
- Indigo World: A triangular tent with all kinds of indigo cloth dying workshops happening in the daytime and soaking overnight.
- The Fields Store: A shop with reusable merchandise, interesting souvenirs, and workshops with recycled plastic.
- Open Kitchen: A space dedicated to local food workshops, cutural education, and dining.
And honestly so much more that I can’t even name!
Other Amazing Features of the Wonderfruit Festival Venue: My Favorites
These are some of what I consider the most impressive features of the festival!
Wonder Kitchen
A space for renowned chefs to create degustation menus for up to 120 Wonderers at a time. They offer different menus each day where you can taste creative fusion food right at the festival! Truly amazing.
Beach Bar, Jungle House, and Bath House
We honesly didn’t even discover the beach area until day 2, but then it became our favorite place. They had the BEST dj playing downtempo organic music each night from the Jungle House (which also has a nice bar with espresso martinis). You can chill on the beach on compy mattresses, or on the hill overlooking the lake and the whole festival. Simply epic.
The Bath House is the floating platform on the lake by the camping area with breezy slade saild and floating teepees to float around the lake on.
Cloud Lounge
A floaty and breezy station to GET AN IV DRIP. This is truly one of the coolest things I’ve seen at a festival. I regret so much that haven’t made it to get one – yet.
Darkroom Camera Booth
This was one of the coolest features. In the middle of the fields, they had a darkroom camera booth where you could have your photo taken using an old 1800’s camera, lens, and process. You could get different sizes of photos from 500 THB taken and developed using unique processes used at the beginning of photography.
Transportation + Parking: How to Get to Wonderfruit Festival
There are a few options for transportation to and from Wonderfruit.
Grab/Taxi
We ordered a Grab to take us into the venue each day, and took a taxi from the Wonderfruit taxi stand to go home each morning. This is because Grabs are easy to call and quite affordable to take you into the festival (sometimes they just may take 5-15 mins depending on how far out you are).
We never figured out how it worked to call a Grab from the venue to go home, and the prices were almost always surged just as much or more than the capped taxi prices from the Wonderfruit taxi stand. So for this reason, I think the easiest option to get home is taking a taxi from the Wonderfruit taxi stand – they charge high rates, but they are flat rates, and you have no trouble finding your car.
Rent a Scooter/Car
Many people choose to rent a scooter or a car to get to and from Wonderfruit. There are plenty of scooter and car rental places in Pattaya, or it may be easier to rent a car right from the airport or Bangkok (or a scooter if you dont have too many bags).
If you plan to be in fine condition to drive, there are scooter and car parking lots at the venue. However, make sure to be aware that these lots are at least a 10-15 minute walk from the festival entrance where taxis drop off (more on this below).
Hiring a Driver
Many groups hired a van and a driver for the weekend, surely for a decent flat rate. I couldn’t say exactly where to find a driver, but surely it’s possible online.
Wonderfruit Shuttle
The Wonderfruit shuttle seems to be quite a decent ststem for getting rom the venue to 5 different stops in and around Pattaya, including some big hotel like Movenpick. You msut buy a shuttle pass, which includes ulimited rides, and book seats in advance. It takes about 30-40 minutes to and from the venue.
Parking at Wonderfruit
There’s a lot of parking at Wonderfruit, but I was really confused about how it worked. We took a scooter there to pop into the venue and grab our wristbands before meeting our friends as they arrived, and found out that the scooter parking lot is at least a 10-15 minute walk from the entrance (and where grabs/taxis/shuttles drop off). The craziest part is that it seemed they used a farther parking lot, only to leave some closer parking lots completely empty.
It was a HUGE put-off to know it was at least a 10-minute walk to the entrance before another 10-15-minute walk to get fully into the venue… we walked a few kilometers before we even started the day. This definitely put us off driving our rental scooter to the venue again; we just used it for supply runs and took grabs/taxis.
Wonderfruit Festival Crowd
The crowd at Wonderfruit is simply, well, wonderful! This really is the type of place that draws experienced, kind, inclusive, festival-goers from around the world who really know how to enjoy themselves, help others, and just be a good vibe. People day it’s the ‘Burning Man’ of Asia for a reason! I heard a couple really experienced djs and artists say it was one of the best festival vibes in the world. And I agree!
The ONE thing that put a dent in my experience was my friend’s bag/phone getting stolen at the last sunrise set, which shocked us all to our core, asw e had developed such a trust here. So just keep an eye on your things, especially at busy sets!
What kind of people does Wonderfruit bring? Well, all kinds. There are families with children and people of all ages. I’ll say there are a lot of people residing in Southeast Asia, from locals to expats, from places like Bali, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and more. The average age is a bit older, which fits with the more experienced energy – I’d say 30’s and up (with exceptions, of course).
Also, this is one of the most LBGTQ+ festivals I have ever been to! It’s a super fun and inclusive space for the rainbow community and I would go as far as to say they may even be a majority here, or close.
Wonderfruit Festival Vibe + Ethos
I’ve been to a lot of festivals with a good ethos… but none as deep as Wonderfruit’s. The work that has gone into keeping every aspect of the festival conscious is truly commendable. From the total elimination of plastic at the venue, to the separation of trash, to the cultural and artistic education being offered around every corner, to the true collaboration with the local community and more.
As I mentioned, the vibe here is great; it’s the kind of festival whre it feels like you could walk up and have a conversation with anyone. This is the kind of vibe I traveled the world for years to find.
Wonderfruit Festival Atmosphere/Decorations/Production and At Installations
Wonderfruit sets up the atmosphere and decor in a very intentionally arty way. They have different artists design spaces and stages in different styles, often unique and experimental like the art installations that dot the venue. Wondefruit is earthy yet completely vibrant with color, very in touch with the land, and one of the most creativity-focused events I have been to.
The production differs from one stage to the next. From the incredible fog portal lighting at the Quarry to lighting that bounces off glass prisms in Baan Bardo, the production is done in tasteful yet effective ways, rather than ways that try to show off. Wonderfruit is all about looking twice and noticing just how incredible everything really is.
The installations were truly incredible, creative, annd engaging – from things you could push and climb, to spaces to sit and relax or listen to incredible auditory art or music. Even the big trees on-site were truly magical, lit up with disco balls and lights.
They also had a few super unique and interesting art cars, roaming performances, and pop-up music events that youd have to be lucky to catch. These were all delightful and surprising, marking true ‘moments of wonder’ at the festival, like the images above.
Wonderfruit Festival Lineup/Music/Artists
This is the type of festival where you may only know a couple of names on the lineup, but you trust the effort that went into the curation and vibe of this festival so much that you know everything is meticulously chosen. You don’t really come here for big names… you come for the full experience and trust that you will discover tons of new and perhaps mind-blowing music along the way.
In terms of what kind of music you can find at Wonderfruit, well, it’s al kinds! During the day and into the night there are more relaxed funk and disco sets along with acoustic, live and indie bands, live instruments, and more. Deeper into the night until sunrise, you will find more interesting experimental music as well as tons of different kinds of hard-hitting and/or melodic DJ sets. You can truly find a bit of everything.
Some big names and headliners that have played at Wonderfruit in the past are FKJ, Kerala Dust, Acid Pauli, Little Dragon, Four Tet, Rudimental, and Fat Freddy’s Drop.
Accommodation and/or Camping at Wonderfruit Festival
When attending Wonderfruit Festival, you will either camp on-site in any of a few areas, or you will find accommodation outside the venue in a vacation rental or a hotel. There’s plenty of accommodation and nice villas to rent within about a 20-minute drive of the venue (check Google Maps). The festival does have a shuttle to more central hotels, which takes about 35-45 minutes.
Hotels and Airbnbs for Wonderfruit
I do not recommend staying in the center of Pattaya itself for Wonderfruit, because the place couldn’t be farther from the vibe and ethos of Wonderfruit – and, sorry to be blunt, but it is maybe the seediest and grossest place for s*x tourism in the world. Trust me. I stayed there for a night before the festival just to see it, and I never want to go back.
The only benefit to staying in the city is proximity to grocery stores and/or the beach… but in my opinion, you won’t need this because you will want to spend as much time inside the festival as you can. Just pick up a big load of groceries before you arrive, or order from Grab.
If you love a hotel, Wonderfruit has some partner hotels where the shuttle picks you up from your front door – this would be an ideal option for convenience, ease, and not needing to sort transport or go into Pattaya. These are Mövenpick, Dusit Thani, Centre Point Prime, and Wyndham Jomtien.
I do recommend finding a lovely villa with your friends a bit outside of the city, but ideally close enough to some 7-11’s or grocery stores for supplies, but not close enough to Pattaya to feel the gross energy. There are tons of villas on Booking.com and Airbnb for reasonable prices with 3-5+ rooms for groups. If you are going solo or in a couple, grab a room in a hotel nearer to the venue or a smaller vacation rental. You can always pick up supplies in Pattaya.
Camping at Wonderfruit
Wonderfruit has extemsive camping options:
General Camping at Wonderfruit
General camping has its own area (separate from any of the glamping), which is the BYO tent, set-up-yourself style. It has a decent amount of shade (although it’s debatable if you’d be able to sleep in your tent after the sun comes up). The price of this at the time of writing was 1200THB, or about $39 for the whole weekend.
This area has showers, toilets, charging, and water. It’s just the basic set-up which you can make your own, but I would venture to say some of the general campers would have been the ones scattered around the venue sleeping in the shade during the day! But, as I have always said, camping at a music festival is what you make of it – come prepared and live large.
Boutique Camping/Glamping at Wonderfruit
In a seperate area from general camping, you will find an area of the festival dedicated to boutique camping. Tents accommodate 2 guests, with the option to add a single bed. All options have shared bathrooms and access to showers, charging, water, and special areas. Oh, and there’s a padel court in the boutiwue camping area! Your options are:
Pavilion Tent with Club Experience: A special shaded glamping tent inside a coconut grove. These are for Mastercard holders only, and include a special club experience with breakfast, a wellness activity, a glow-up at the salon, and an exclusive zone. At the time of writing, this cost 100,000THB or about $3200 USD for the 4nights/5 days.
Pavilion Tent: Normal Pavilion Tents are air-conditioned tents with thatched roofs over the top. You can get one at ‘The Grove’ (closer to the venue) or ‘The Hideaway’ (further from the venue), but all are quite close. The prices are 75,000THB or about $2400USD for two people.
Shared Pavilion Tent: Solo Travelers can still opt for luxury by sharing a tent with two others… Like a hostel, but Wonderfruit. The price for this when I wrote the article was jsut over 28000THB or jsut over $900 USD.
Bell Tent: These seem like the best value to me. Bell tents have TWO queen beds inside (max 4 people) as well as air conditioning (!!) and similar amenities and access for a total of 55000THB for the 4 nights/5 days, orjust over $1760 USD. This is my move next time!
Shared Bell Tent: You can opt for a bed in a 3-person bell tent for 18,300THB or about $590 USD.
Slow Wonder: Wonferfruit Villas
At the top of the food chain, with its own separate area and entrance, are the actual rooms at Wonderfruit, called Slow Wonder. They have 26 boutique hotel rooms on-site in a quiet corner of the venue. These rooms are simple yet effective air-conditioned spaces with their own balconies (and hammocks), private bathrooms, and little village. At the time of writing, these cost 225,000THB for the duration of the event, or about $7200. One can dream!
Wonderfruit Festival Amenities – Other Features + Stuff to Do
Wonderfruit is so gloriously stuffed full of epic ameinties and things to do that it would be almost futile to try and list all of them! I already mentioned a bunch of stuff in the ‘Location/Venue’ section – the first one in this article – but below I will lost some more amazing amenities.
Workshops at Wonderfruit have too much depth to list! A selection of cool ones from my app are: wine tasting, pizza making, fan painting, Indigo Dying, yoga, breathwork of all kinds, oil making, Japanese Tea ceremony, Tantra, sound healing, coffee brewing, meditation, Thai mark workshop, Thai traditional medicine workshops, botanical drawing workshop, contact improv, HIIT class, ice bath, ecstatic dance, womens/mens circles, Thai massage, healing and cultural talks, seed conservation, medicinal Kava, cocktail making, and workshops with mushrooms, chocolate, all kinds of sound, tea, Thai tribal wisdom, and more.
I mean…. WOW.
- Lockers – first come, first serve. BYO lock. Use for the weekend.
- AMAZING Bathrooms – more on this later.
- Lake to swim, float, and do SUP Yoga
- Ancestral Forest: This area is an art-filled forest with a stage and spaces for workshops.
- Medicinal Plant Village: Wooden huts where Thai traditional medicine is taught
- Thai Massage Spaces: there are at least 2 or 3 different Thai massage spaces in the venue. From what I saw, though, they are at least 5-6x the price you can get outside the venue.
- Molan World: The whole area dedicated to Thailand – culture, music, art, performance, and history. Explore workshops, live bands, food, and more here.
Money at Wonderfruit Festival Thailand
At Wonderfruit, you must load up your wristband to pay for anything. There are lots of top-up stations throughout the venue with lines for cash, credit card, or local banks. When you pay for anyhting, they scan your wristband and show you how much you have remaining on it.
Wonderfruit Festival App
Wonderfruit has one of the best festival apps I’ve seen, with a complete navigation between the map, the program, and a build-your-own schedule where you can add things to your program. It’s super easy to navigate and even check what’s playing on a stage when you pass it – which happens often at this festival! Downloading the app is a must.
Food/Drink and Prices at Wonderfruit Festival
Wonderfruit has some of the most diverse and impressive ranges of food and drinks I have ever seen at a festival – period. Some music festivals have a menu of food amd drinks that is served across the entire festival – but not Wonderfruit.
Here, each stage and each stand has a totally unique bar with different crafted drink options, and each food court has entirely unique options. A lot of the stands are actually from famous restaurants in Bangkok and beyond. Just to name a few things you can find around the venue: BBQ, fruit and smoothies, something called ‘Bangkok Lasagna,” mac n cheese, bone broth, ice cream, pad thai, lemonade, hot dogs, sushi, tons of plant based options, poke, burgers, kebabs, Indian food, seafood, chocolate, sausage…. and thats not even 10% of it.
As far as drink prices, expect to pay about 180-250 baht ($5-$8) for a cocktail/mixed drink, and a bit less for a beer or seltzer. For food, you can expect to pay on average about 300-500 baht for a dish – which is about $10-$16.
Wonderfruit Festival Tickets/Price
Tickets to Wonderfruit range greatly depending on when you buy the ticket. The super early pre-sale for the next year takes place right after the festival with tickets for 8900 THB, or about $285 USD. The final sale goes up to around 11000 THB, or just around $350 USD.On the door, tickets go all the way up to 20,000 THB, or about $640USD. Clearly, this is a huge difference!
It’s important to note that any camping option is an additional cost to the price of the ticket, and msut be secured seperately (which is a bit of a bummer in my opinion; you’d thing the uber-boutique options would include the ticket, but it does not).
Wonderfruit Festival Security
Security is quite tight at Wonderfruit. The line can get quite long to get into the venue, especially at peak times in the evening. The security check includes a pretty comprehensive bag search, including small pockets and wallets etc (and they may throw away some random small items), and a brief body pat-down. Then at the next ‘station,’ you msut show your ID with your festival ticket, every time. They do accept a photo of your ID (passport, drivers license, or otherwise).
Bathrooms at Wonderfruit Festival
Okay, so I could should from the rooftops that Wonderfruit has THE BEST bathrooms I have ever seen at a festival… in my life. And that’s a lot of festivals. These are no porta pottys or even those truck toilets (which are still nice).
These are ACTUAL bathrooms, in permanent structures, with real, flushing toilets, HOOKS AND SHELVES inside the stalls (and plants too), a lot of space, and proper sinks with running water, soap, and reusable towels (at least, they did for the first couple of days).
My favorite feature is that some bathrooms have little audio installations playing; one has classical music, and one has nature sounds playing on the speakers. Truly the most enjoyable toilet experiences at a festival, haha… Wonderfruit is low-key worth a visit jsut for these bathrooms.
Weather at Wonderfruit Festival
December in Thailand (assuming the dates remain the same) is hot, but not too hot. The daytimes can get a bit hotter, with some humidity and temperatures getting up to a few degrees either side of 30C (80’s F). Nights average around 22-24C (early 70’s F). Clearly perfect for some morning SUP yoga on the lake!
In the day times, sun protection is vital – sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, shade. Given the amount of walking, dancing, and people close together, any type of jacket is very unnecessary. We were all sweating a lot, even in the middle of the night!
It doesnt generally rain much in December in this area, but it can. There are plenty of places to seek cover if it does. When I went, it just sprinkled a few times.
Fashion at Wonderfruit Festival
Wonderfruit fashion is very earthy, boho, hippie, and simply festival style. People walk around in all kinds of outfits, from comfy families in shorts and t-shirts to the most fabulous gays in harnesses and head-to-toe sequins to girlies in beautiful flowing outfits with face paint and leather bum bags. Truly, anything goes here if you want to get creative and let out your inner festival faity, this is a place to do it. But it’s also not a place of judgment if you want to be comfy.
Timings at Wonderfruit
Wonderfruit is a 24h festival, BUT they absolutely make a separation between party time and morning chill time. Any sunrise sets will end promptly by 8am (maybe 10am on the last day), without much music going on for a few hours after 8, seemingly to encourage people to go home and sleep, haha, or at least rest by the lake.
Daytime programming begins around 7-9am with yoga, meditation, tea ceremonies, Indigo dying, and different workshops. Workshops like this happen all day until around 6-7pm where the music and might time really begin. Sunset and sinrise are massive parties at the Solar Stage, and sunrise sets happen at Solar, Neramit, and also the Quarry.
By the last couple days, the venue is a bit of a ghost town in the mornings after the sunrise party people filter out. So come early earlier in the festival!
Food and drinks are always available!
Volunteering/Staff at Wonderfruit
Volunteering isn’t available at Wonderfruit, but I will say they do have the sweetest staff in the world! All the people working here are lovely, fun, and getting amongst the vibe of the festival. Most of the workers look truly happy to be there, dancing to the music and joking with patrons. This really does make a difference!
Final Tips for Wonderfruit Festival
