It’s not hard to find some of the best coffee in Barcelona – there are tons of Barcelona coffee shops throughout the city center. And when I say coffee shops, I am really talking about real COFFEE right now, people! This isn’t Amsterdam. 😛
Although this city is not particularly well-known for having incredible coffee, I will show you where to find plenty of it! You just need to know where to look to find
the best coffee in Barcelona. During my months living here, I made it a mission to find some of the best coffee around. After living in Melbourne I have become even more of a coffee-addict AND coffee snob, so you can be SURE these ones are good.
A lot of these coffee shops are in and around the city center – in El Born, Gothic Quarter, and El Raval. But there are also plenty in Sant Antoni, Eixample, and other areas you may be staying in. To make it easier, I have included a map below. Happy coffee drinking!
Nomad Coffee Lab + Shop
Good For: A HIGH-QUALITY takeaway coffee
Wifi: No
Location: El Born
Nomad Coffee Lab + Shop is one of the most authentic Barcelona cafes with DEFINITELY some of the best coffee in Barcelona. You know it’s good when they name each variety of bean on a menu on the tall, with the location is was sourced from and three different taste/flavor hints for each one. Wow!
They serve different varietals for filter coffee, cold brew, and hot espressos, and can help you with recommendations for what is good for each. It’s very impressive. They also have some fun merch.
The only thing about this place is that there’t not too much seating. There are a few benches you can sit on while you have your coffee, but this place is better for takeaway coffees, a quick cuppa, or getting some fresh beans to bring home with you.
This Barcelona coffee shop is VERY easy to miss unless you are looking for it. It’s tucked down a tiny alley in El Born that actually ahs a gate that closes at night – so go early! Look for the sign they put out front while they’re open.
Departure Coffee Co
Good For: A catch-up with a friend in a cute space or takeaway coffee
Wifi: Yes but no laptops allowed 🙁
Location: El Raval
Tucked down a little alley in the Universitat-end of El Raval you will find Departure Coffee Co. It might look like a tiny order-at-the-counter stand from afar, but they actually have a lovely and large space inside for you to sit down and meet some friends.
This place definitely has some of the best coffee in Barcelona, and I have tried it in many different versions myself from a flat white to a iced latte. It is delicious each time!
You can get all the classic coffee varieties here, and also some smaller sandwiches and snacks too. The only thing I didn;t like about this place is that they literally have a sticker with an ‘X’ over a picture of a laptop – none allowed! I suppose I understand but this is the only place I’ve seen something like that.
Satan’s Coffee Corner
Good For: AMAZING Coffee and some cute seating spaces
Wifi: Nope
Location: There are a few: One in Gothic and one on Gran Via in Eixample outside Casa Bonay Hotel
Satan’s Coffee Corner is another de-LISH coffee shop in Barcelona. You can visit one on Gran Via near Tetuan Station, or one close to the cathedral in Gothic Quarter.
They serve delicious coffees, bottles kombucha and cold brew, and some smaller snacks and breakfast/brunch meals also. Come here for a high quality coffee and a bit of a snarky mood!
Dalston Coffee
Good For: Coffee on the go OR sitting outside in a lovely Raval alley
Wifi: Yes (but only 3 tables)
Dalston Coffee is a cute little nook in a Raval alley that briefly opens up into a small square. It has some tiny little slot seats inside (as you can see in the first pic) and about 3 small tables outside.
It’s small but honestly one of my favorite outdoor seating’s around. You can look straight up at one of my favorite 3-4 story murals of what seems like a jazz singer with galaxies woven into him.
They have all the coffee classics as well as 4 kinds of bikini sandwiches (which means toastie in Barcelona). Yum! You can also pick up coffee here and pretty much any coffee accessory you can think of, to make your own great coffee at home.
Hidden Coffee Roasters Barcelona
Good For: Take away coffee or sitting in, working, or with friends
Wifi: Yes
Location: El Born close to Barceloneta, Les Corts, Bogatell
Hidden Coffee Roasters actually now has 3 locations in Barcelona, but I have always gone to the one in El Born. Hidden Coffee in El Born is a newer spot that I LOVE. The coffee is amazing and they have a few tables and a bar of seating inside.
They know their coffee and sell tons of coffee accessories too – different machines and drips and ways to make your own coffee at home. The presentation is also lovely when you eat in.
As far as food they have about 12 flavors of mini-cake, a few toasties, and some other pastries. I would definitely get a cake though – try a few different flarows with friends and see which you like best!
Federal Cafe
Good For: Laptop working in 3 different locations in Barcelona and amazing food/coffee
Wifi: Yes
Location: One in Gothic, Poblenou, and Sant Antoni
Federal Cafe has made it to 3 places in the city for a great reason. Started by a coffee lover from Australia (which is known for its coffee), they have tons of different delicious coffee options here – and it is GOOD!
Federal Cafe is a great place to come for other food and drink too, however. Besides having some of the best coffee in Barcelona, they have some amazing all-day breakfast/brunch/lunch meals, smoothies, juices, wines, and more.
You can come here to work on your laptop (they have designated areas), or meet with friends.
Lukumas
Good For: Delicious coffee and DONUTS!
Wifi: Unsure
Location: El Raval
Lukumas is another specialty Barcelona coffee shop that is known for its COFFEE and DONUTS! They have a ton of different kinds of delicious fluffy donuts on display on the counter, which I was drawn to at first.
But when I tried my iced coffee, my jaw hit the floor! It was one of the best coffees in Barcelona that I have had, and I happily sipped it on my way into town one day. All of their coffees are delicious, and if you are in the mood to splurge on a donut too, this is the place to do it.
Cafe Cometa
Good For: A quick coffee and cheap bite on the run or coffee date to sit and chat
Wifi: No
Location: Sant Antoni
This cute little spot in Sant Antoni is known for coffee and toasties! They have 6 different kinds of toasties, a colorful atmosphere with fun art and plants covering the walls, and an actually massive outdoor dining area with plenty of tables.
To be honest, my toastie was quite dry, so it might be better for a coffee in a cute atmosphere than a meal! They also don;t have wifi so it would be a better spot to come and meet some friends.
