Hvar Nightlife: A Guide to FUN Bars + Clubs in Hvar Town

Hvar is the nightlife capital of southern Dalmatia and has some EPIC bars and clubs to wander around in the peak months of summer. Hvar nightlife can be crazy and wild or it can be as relaxed as a few drinks with live music… it’s up to you!

I worked on Croatia sailing tours for 6 summers and even ran my own sailing company, and have had too many nights out in Hvar myself to count. So I feel pretty qualified to recommend the best nightlife in Hvar town to you.

I will list recommendations below for ALL kinds of Hvar nights out so you can choose the right night for you. I do recommend having at least one ‘big one’ here, though, because the famous club on an island is a sight to behold.

Something to keep in mind is that Hvar nightlife is at its peak in July and August, with a few weeks in June and September that are still bustling and full. If you arrive outside of these times, some of the bigger clubs may not be open, and bars may not be at their craziest capacity.

Make sure to check out my Hvar Travel Guide + Things to Do in addition to this nightlife guide, and how to choose the best Croatia sailing tours for you!

Relaxed Bars to Experience Hvar Nightlife

Hvar Croatia nightlife guide - the best bars and clubs
You never know the gems you’ll find down these alleyways!

I will begin with relaxed bars that won’t have cramped dance floors or crazy tourists. Here are some of the best bars in Hvar to relax and take in the atmosphere – perhaps watching the partiers from afar with a high-end cocktail.

Ka’Lavanda

Ka’Lavanda is a great all-around bar in Hvar. It has some of the most creative and fancy cocktails on the whole island, and live music to keep anyone entertained after sunset.

Central Park Club

Central Park club is another amazing open-air venue steps from the main square. This one also often has live music which is still fun, but down a few notches from some of the crazy bars in Hvar. Grab a delicious cocktail and enjoy the atmosphere.

Gurme Tapas & Wine

If you love little hole-in-the-wall wine bars, this could be your option tonight! Taste some local wines paired with a plate of local pršut (prosciutto) and cheese for a romantic or relaxed night in Hvar.

Best Bars in Hvar to Start the Night

Hula Hula

An iconic Hvar bar!

Hula Hula is a daytime/sunset bar about a 15-minute walk from the center of Hvar. This is a bougie place full of beautiful people and expensive bottles, but it’s definitely worth going to. You can still find places to sit if you go early enough (5-6pm).

They have resident DJs and occasional branded parties, where the vibe is more relaxed and chill in the afternoon (with people swimming relaxing, and sunbathing) and often turns into a bit more of a party as the sun gets lower on the horizon.

This is one of my favorite places to go out in Hvar, especially to watch the sunset. But remember, it’s a cash bar and quite expensive!

Kiva’s alleyway – crammed to say the least.

When a certain song comes on, all the tour guides will dance on the bar 😛

Kiva Bar Hvar

Kiva is 100% the party starter around here! With an absolutely on-point singalong playlist, it’s hard not to get the dance party going here. From 830-930 pm it will go from zero to absolutely cram-packed during high season, so get there early!

Here, they have amazing cocktails (and usually happy hour until 11) and their famous ‘tequila booms.’ Yes, you should be scared. A Tequila Boom is when a bartender puts a helmet on your head and pours a highball glass of tequila and a bit of fruit juice, and quite literally bangs it against your head 6 or 7 times before handing it to you to shoot. It ‘eases’ the pain of the shot, wink wink! It’s definitely a sight to behold.

If you end up dancing inside Kiva, I have a trick for you. When the bar gets super crowded and hot, make sure to stand either right in the middle of the room or right under the doorway to catch the elusive air conditioning draft. I promise you they do have AC!

Sidro Bar

When the tour guides escape for a quiet espresso martini!

We always go to Sidro Bar when Kiva gets a bit too crowded, around 1030 or 11 during high season. Sidro is also a little bar with great singalong music and amazing cocktails. But, you absolutely cannot go to Hvar without getting an espresso martini from here.

I think they must add some sorcery into their cocktail shaker, because these are absolutely magical. I sometimes end up having over 4 of them and can’t sleep at all that night… but #worthit. Seriously, so, so good.

Sidro also has a big outdoor patio if you’d like to sit on the outskirts and enjoy a seated drink with tunes playing, watching the craziness of the Hvar night unfold.

Nautica Bar

Nautica Bar is right next to Kiva and is a great second option if the other bars get too packed. They have lights, music, happy hours, cocktails, and all of the things you need for Hvar nightlife.

Se7en Bar

This bar sprang up out of nowhere in the summer a few years ago and really took charge of the Hvar bar scene. It looks unassuming out at the port, but once you go inside, you will find club-like lighting, blasting music, fog machines, a dance floor going quite far back into the building, and a large back courtyard to get some air. It’s a really fun spot when you’re ready to dance!

Carpe Diem Bar

Carpe Diem Bar is a happening bar with bumping music right on the Hvar ferry port. It’s usually full of people from The Yacht Week attending their weekly ‘white’ party (if you see a bunch of young people wearing white, this is why).

Carpe Diem Bar is the official pre-party for Carpe Diem Beach, which is the famous island club Hvar is known for. The water taxis to the island club leave from right outside Carpe Diem Bar and run all night.

The Best Clubs for Hvar Nightlife

Hvar Town has two main clubs, which usually price-match, so neither is cheaper nor more expensive than the other. I would always opt for the island club as it is unique.

Carpe Diem Beach – Hvar’s Famous Club on an Island

Carpe Diem Hvar Nightlife

Carpe Diem Beach is the famous ‘club on an island’ in Hvar. You can take free water taxis back and forth from here all night. It’s on an island directly across from the harbor and takes about 10 minutes via a water taxi boat.

In high season, entry can get up to 40 euros, but is often cheaper if you get there before 1am (30 euros). And if you’re thinking that’s late – welcome to Hvar. The clubs open at 12:30 and get busy around 1:30 or 2, so be prepared for a late one!

It can be a bit of a marathon if you only have one day in Hvar, starting at Hula Hula, to Kiva, to Sidro, to Carpe Diem…. but you can do it!

Carpe Diem is an outdoor club nestled within trees on this little island. They will usually play house, deep house, and techno music, often getting more and more commercial as the night goes on. They have a big VIP section and fairly famous DJ’s playing some nights, and lots and lots of tables you can purchase. There’s even a pool you can swim in if you want, and a spot you can jump in the sea.

But, if I were to give you one tip on this place, it’s that drinks are INSANELY expensive. And they make you pay for water, too. So if you need to drink, drink before getting here unless you want to go broke.

Pink Champagne Club

Pink Champagne is the other big club in Hvar. It’s located just past the main square of town, and is actually underground – you take stairs or an elevator down to it. If you ask me, this Hvar club is far inferior to Carpe Diem, but that’s just my opinion.

I love the open-air vibes rather than dungeon vibes, but some people like that! Pink Champagne Club is much smaller than Carpe Diem Beach, and is essentially a few bars and a big, lit-up dance floor downstairs. Check them both out for yourself!
