Where to Stay in Uluwatu for Boutique + Unique Accommodation and Hotels

La Santa Rosa Bali (prev. Alchemist Bali): Romantic + Rustic Bungalows in a European-Style Jungle Setting

Location: 5-10 minutes up from Balangan Beach

Alchemist is a stunning combination of a European/Indonesian-influenced restaurant, 7 completely different rustic Bungalows surrounding a stunningly gorgeous pool area, and a whole new super luxurious wing with even more unique rooms. We stayed here for an entire month in three different bungalows – we couldn’t get enough! As it is partially French-owned, they also make amazing fresh croissants every morning.

The property has 5-6 lovely and friendly dogs that run around and one of the most lovely hotel designs I have ever seen. It seems that they have placed a European-influenced design right into Bali – with a Greek/French/Spanish architecture and vibe with Balinese jungle flora and fauna. The pool is is beautiful and the area is the type of space you really don’t want to leave.

Our favorite bungalows were the ‘Romeo and Juliette” bungalow on the second floor overlooking the pool, and “Le Petit Prince” if you want to stay in an actual rustic treehouse. If neither of those are available, we also loved “La Blanche Niege” or “Mykonos.” Be prepared, though, they are rustic and may have holes in walls/floors – it’s living partially outside (although there is great air con).

The only downside to La Santa Rosa is the slightly remote location. You can easily reach/run to Balangan Beach (about 2k one way), but getting the the ‘main’ parts of Uluwatu isn’t quick. We found it very worthwhile, though – you get used to the roads quickly!

The Korowai: Wooden and Fairy-Lit Jungle Bungalows Overlooking the Sea

Location: Tucked into a cliff at the south end of Bingin Beach

If you are looking for where to stay in Uluwatu that feels extra remote, the Korowai may be for you. Perched within a cliff on the southern end of Bingin Beach, you can only reach the Korowai from a 10-15 minute walk from the road or from the beach itself.

The Korowai is made of wooden huts and bungalows with thatched roofs, with fairy lights illuminating the stairways. There’s a cute restaurant with basic and affordable food within a lovely Tulum-like vibe, and bean bags overlooking the waves.

The rooms here are something out of an Instagrammer’s dream. They’re wooden bungalows with large patios, most with a lovely turquoise plunge pool and a net to lay in (and take photos in of course) beneath the shade of the trees. They’re also surprisingly affordable for what they are!

Temple Lodge: Spiritual and Colorful Boutique Yoga Hotel Overlooking Bingin Beach

Location: Right Above Bingin Main Stairs

Temple Lodge is a well-known yoga shala and hotel right at the very top of Bingin Beach. Each room has a different name, layout, and design, most with different colored walls and unique touches being built into the cliff’s edge. The rooms will be priced differently depending on size and whether they have ocean views or not, and there are about 10 to choose from.

Temple Lodge offers free breakfast and has a large common kitchen, pool, and table area that directly overlook Bingin Beach and ’The Impossibles’ surf break. They have daily yoga classes and a spa as well- the ultimate relaxation! This lodge is usually a bit pricier but is perfect for those who like a morning or evening yoga class, beautiful views, and easy access to the beach.

Gravity Hotel: Sleek White Designer Hotel with Great Location

Location: Padang Padang up the hill
Gravity Hotel is truly the Instagrammer and design lover’s dream. This hotel is super unique and made of sleek white stone bordering turquoise blue pools with trendy beige interiors. It’s also 4-star so you can expect proper creature comforts here, and great hospitality!

They have varying room types from smaller bungalows and rooms to private villas with private pools, so there’s a bit of something for everyone! There’s a large and beautiful pool area and and restaurant on-site to take care of all your needs. It’s also right off of the main street with restaurants and bars, so you’ll be right in the middle of it all at Gravity.

Sal Secret Spot: More Affordable and Sleek Sister of Gravity Hotel

Location: Main Area Above Bingin Beach

Sal Secret Spot is like Gravity Hotel’s slightly smaller and 3-star sister located in the most prime location of Bingin Beach. The property is within walking distance to the main Bingin Beach stairs and has a very photogenic pool, bar, and common room area decked out in white stone and tweed.

They also have a beach building with a beautiful view of the beach in a similar style. If you’re on more of a budget this could one of the best options of where to stay in Uluwatu – Bingin beach is truly prime (it’s my favorite beach) and it’s easy to get anywhere from here.

Dreamsea: Beachy and Chic Surfer Restaurant/Hotel on the Sand

Location: Above the Sand on North Padang Padang Beach

As its name suggests, Dreamsea is a VERY dream-y place to stay in Uluwatu! 😉 It’s a hotel and a surf camo which you can book with lessons right from the front steps. It’s a bit pricier than the aforementioned boutique hotels, but when you see the photos, you will know why!

Dreamsea Hotel is impossibly trendy with wooden beams, nets to lay in, hammocks, flowers, and earthy touches, and it directly above the sea on the northern end of Padang Padang Beach. It’s a bit of a trek to walk down to, but it will be worth it when you realize that you can hear the waves crash directly below your room and order LOTS of great food right at the restaurant.

Dreamsea is popular for surfers (many paddle out right from the hotel) and beach-lovers. It has a bit of a jungle vibe (watch out for the monkeys), but is mostly open-air with beach and sea views from every last corner!

PinkCoco Boutique Hotel Uluwatu Bali Adults Only

Pinkcoco: Vibrant and Trendy Fun Hotel in Main Strip

Location: Main Street Padang Padang

Pinkcoco is another hotel-restaurant right on the main street near Padang Padang Beach. This is a great place to stay in Uluwatu if you love boutique/designer hotels that are quirky, fun, and colorful. The ENTIRE hotel is bright pink, and each room has fun and colorful touches such as quotes on the walls, fun paintings, and unique touches. There’s a lovely pool and courtyard, and it’s easily walkable to the beach.

Pinkcoco prides itself on being ‘for fun adults only’ (yep – no kids allowed!) and you will see this on a sign out front. It’s such fun branding! The restaurant is known for delicious tapas and paella platters for sharing. They also have a killer happy hour and flowing cocktails. It’s definitely a vibe! Check out the photos on Booking below to see how epic the rooms are. It’s usually a bit pricier but they put on some great deals!

Where to Stay in Uluwatu for Views: Nicer Resorts + Accommodation in Uluwatu

These places to stay in Uluwatu below are the most famous resorts and nicer hotels, mostly perched on clifftops or with crazy views, architecture, or atmosphere.

These are mostly larger than the boutique hotels above, but if you are looking for something more well-known and boujee with fantastic hospitality, book below for sure.

Uluwatu Surf Villas

Location: Near Uluwatu Point

Uluwatu Surf Villas are another famous and fantastic place to stay in Uluwatu. There are lots of smaller one-bedroom villas with expansive ocean views (just what you need to check the surf). Many of these have their own private pool, and have all the amenities and fittings of a 5-star resort. These one-bedroom units are quite affordable for their location as well!

If you want to GO BIG, you can also book THE Uluwatu surf villa at the bottom of the resort. This one is 4 bedrooms and one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in Uluwatu! Check it out on Airbnb if you want to be wow’ed.

There’s also a restaurant on-site called Mana, which is well-known in Uluwatu for sunset and happy hour and has various specials throughout the week.

Alila Villas Uluwatu

Location: Cliffside in Southern Pecatu

Alila is yet another of the MOST famous resort options for accommodation in Uluwatu – but also comes with the highest price tag. This one has a photogenic and famous cliffside pool and view area, with one, two, and three bedroom villas. The private villas have beautiful private pools with cage-like shade structures and plenty of open space.

The resort is complete with a restaurant on site, a 50m public pool (along with private pools), a spa, fitness center, and more. If you want to live LARGE in Uluwatu, check out the booking options below!

The Edge Bali

Location: Cliffside in Southern Pecatu

The Edge is another resort in southern Pecatu with some very insta-famous qualities, including the glass-bottomed pool that sticks out over a cliff, and some beautiful rock pools that nearly look like a natural hot spring. The Edge has some regular resort rooms along with one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and five-bedroom villas. And ALL of them look out over the sea! The villas are truly 5-star, with everything from private butlers and pools to sundecks, gardens, and even wine cellars!

The restaurant there is actually impressively good with lower prices than you’d expect at such a nice place. Ask for the floating breakfast in the glass-bottomed pool in the morning for the ultimate Bali experience, and make sure to check out the spa too;.

Ayana Resort and Spa Bali (+ Rock Bar)

Location: Jimbaran

No article on where to stay in Uluwatu is complete without at least mentioning the beautiful Ayana Resort. Located farther north than any of these other Uluwatu Accommodation options, Ayana is right in Jimbaran (south of the beach, on the cliffs) and closer to the airport and Balangan Beach.

Ayana boasts truly impressive rooms with elegant furnishings, ocean-view gardens, pools, and rooms, and tons of on-site dining options. It’s also a bit more affordable than most of these other fancy resort options, although still very resort-y, if you get what I mean.

Ayana is the best known for what might just be the most famous bar in Bali: The Ayana Rock Bar. This bar has iconic views right on the cliffs overlooking the beach, with great food, drinks, and pools all around. It’s most popular as one of the best sunset views on the island.

Six Senses Bali (Under Renovation Currently)

Location: Cliffside in Southern Pecatu

Six Senses Resort Bali is one of the most famous accommodation in Uluwatu options. Six Senses is a worldwide brand, but their Uluwatu resort is one of their best. The large resort has many rooms, each with perfect ocean views, outdoor balconies, private pools, and amazing amenities like flatscreen TV’s, aircon, room service, buffet breakfast, and more.

Six Senses has a few restaurants on site and also a large spa with a variety of treatments. If you are looking for the true 5-star Uluwatu cliffside experience (that does come at a price) this is it.
