See below my guide on the best bars in Uluwatu. Let’s just say this whole part of Bali is a gold mine for a sunset cocktail, and over my months here, I made it our mission to find all the best!

It’s hard to just lump all these Uluwatu bars together, as Uluwatu has such a diverse selection of bars that see sunset after sunset. Pretty much all the sunsets here are fantastic, with tons of places to watch from. Uluwatu also has great happy hours and even spots for nightlife later on.

So, to cater to everyone, we have broken it into three categories: the best bars and nightclubs to party in Uluwatu, the best high-end bars in Uluwatu and the best backpacker budget or happy hour bars in Uluwatu. Which one will you check out first?

Here is a comprehensive list of the best bars in Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia - Bali's center for surfing and sunsets! Included are Uluwatu bars with amazing views and/or atmosphere, from budget backpacker happy hours to high-end beach clubs with infinity pools. Take your pick!

Best High-End Beach Clubs and Bars in Uluwatu

These are the fancy Uluwatu Bars that have great service, often day beds or chairs to rent, and maybe a minimum spend or entry fee for fantastic views and pools.

The View

The View is one of the most easily accessible of the higher-end bars and is the only one not located in the south of Uluwatu/the Bukit Peninsula. Located at the La Joya Biu Biu Resort in Balangan, it has an incredible view of the rocky point and is great for sunset (it even has a cute little tub you can jump in for a sunset picture).

They may charge an entry fee depending on the time of year, but a portion should go toward your food and drink. Serving food and having high-end villas, this one is more suited to those just looking to sit back and have a few cocktails whilst the sun sets.

We loved all the different pools here, from the layered infinity pools to the picturesque and instagrammable cave-like pools surrounded by a small river! Hint: the whiskey sour is really good!

Palmilla Bali

You may have seen photos of Palmilla Bali already; it’s one of the most beautiful high-end beach club bars in Uluwatu. Although it is located a fair drive out of the heart of Uluwatu (near the southernmost point of Bali), don’t let this discourage you.

We loved relaxing on the day bed here and watching a beautiful sunset over cocktails. You can easily walk to the beach from here and have a dip.

Its position right on the water’s edge is amazing, and the infinity pool and swing seats at the bar make it seem like you’re in Tulum rather than Bali. With some chilled Ibiza techno vibes and set in an amazing location, this one is a must even just for a casual daytime drink- and definitely a photo. They also have some great happy hour deals!

One Eighty Day Club, AKA The Edge Bali

One Eighty Day Club, located at The Edge Bali, is probably one of the most well-known bars in Uluwatu and best beach clubs in Bali. The glass-bottomed pool hanging cantilevered off the huge cliff is a site nearly everyone has seen on Instagram, but it is definitely worth seeing in person, too!

The pool also has what could be described as a flowing multi-tier river that flows under a bridge into the main pool, which is another beautiful sight and a great photo opportunity. Clearly, we took advantage of all the photo opportunities!

The venue itself is at the bottom of the OneEighty Resort complex, and they even give you a lift down in a golf cart through all the high end villas (which you can stay in if you want to keep this view forever! Check out more unique places to stay in Bali too). With a delicious tasting plate for your afternoon tea, this place is really great for a sunset opportunity and a cocktail- as well as a photoshoot of course!

They don’t really have a happy hour, but we were surprised at the more affordable drink prices for the location – about 100k per cocktail.

Karma Beach Club Bali

Karma Beach Club Bali is a true luxury beach club and bar. Although Karma has a huge chain of resorts all over the world, the Bali club is still probably one of the most unique on the list because it has a beach club in the sand that you must access by cable car from the resort at the top of the hill.

Expect to pay for it, though; it doesn’t come all that cheap. But if you’re looking for a place to relax in the sand all day, eat dinner, and even stay the night (or drop the kids off at a kids club), this place has everything for a day, a night, or a whole weekend.

They also have happy hour daily from 5 to 7, as well as dj parties and different weekly events like cocktail making classes, fire shows, Tuesday movie nights, and even Bollywood movie nights.

Ayana Rock Bar

Ayana Rock Bar, or just “Rock Bar’ as people know it, has risen to be one of the most famous and well-known bars in Uluwatu. This one is the farthest north out of this list of Uluwatu bars, located in Jimbaran just south of the main beach.

It’s famous for a good reason, too – like many of the bars on this list, it’s easy to create INCREDIBLE photos at Rock Bar as the entire venue quite literally hangs off of a cliff above a small rocky beach. The bar itself also has more Instagram followers than most people 😛 There’s a stunning pool that looks over onto the sand, and lots of different areas to get food and drink with a great view.

They have a great menu of bites and cocktails; I’d say Rock Bar is one of the best cocktail bars in
Uluwatu. The bites are small, tapas-style options such as mini tacos (which I loved) and sliders, bruschetta, chicken wings, and aloo chat.

I was incredibly impressed with the cocktail options, some of which have actually won awards in Asian cocktail competitions! They give out umbrellas for share during the last hours of the day before sunser (which is a must to stay for). I loved the ‘chasing the sun’ cocktail – so unique and delicious.

Best Nightclubs and Bars in Uluwatu to Party

Here are the best Uluwatu bars to have a good dance or night out – the capitals of Uluwatu nightlife.

Savaya Bali (prev. Omnia)

Savaya Bali during a party

Savaya is one of the best bars and nightclubs in the Uluwatu area, period. It was quite famous as Omnia Bali before, but swapped management to Savaya in late 2020.

It has everything – a beautiful clifftop view, top-shelf alcohol and cocktails, an incredible pool, a VIP setup, and some of the best international acts. Event management company Cercle hosted an event with Lee Burridge in early 2020 here, really skyrocketing the venue to fame.

One word of warning – don’t expect a cheap price tag here! Savaya is a proper pool club with HUGE DJ and artist names coming through each month with ticketed events – bigger names every year. These come with the VIP crowd, booths, and expensive prices – oh, and bottle service with sparklers.

Located out of the main town, as are more of the high-end venues, Savaya is near a stretch of luxury resorts and Villas on the southernmost point of Uluwatu overlooking the highest cliffs of Bali.

I have had many super fun nights out at Savaya, dancing the night away to famous electronic dj’s. It’s a bucket list thing to do in Bali to dance the night away!

Hatch

Hatch Bali, for us, is one of the best bars in Uluwatu because the venue itself is incredible, colorful, and beautifully designed to feel like you’re in a forest or jungle. This bar/restaurant feels a lot more like you are at a psychedelic music festival/bush doof that has a roof than a bar or a nightclub.

More catered to the year-round crowd of Uluwatu, Hatch has decently priced drinks and amazing food (we recommend Latin Tuesdays for the tacos and Margaritas). Hatch has happy hours most days with half-price cocktails, beer specials, different types of music daily, and more.

They also have beer pong, table tennis, board games, and pool tables that you can use when the dancefloor isn’t heaving. They usually have a different food/drink special and different music style each night of the week. They also have an epic Sunday market with local artisans which I go to as much as I can!

Hatch has had artists like Alex Stein, Juliette Fox, and Pleasurekraft come through. It is a newer bar/club with a more laid-back festival vibe (than Savaya etc) that really has the potential to be one of the coolest spots in Uluwatu – and is located right on the main strip of town. It bridges the gap because it’s both a relaxed bar in the day but also a great Uluwatu nightlife spot in the evenings. Hatch has it all!

Ulu Cliffhouse

Ulu Cliffhouse is an iconic bar and nightclub of Uluwatu, not just because of its amazing Instagram-worthy design. It is known for gigs and parties, and regularly hosts big DJs and well-known acts to large crowds. If there’s no big DJ, they still have parties every Saturday and movie nights every Tuesday. Check upcoming events here.

As its name suggests it is obviously on a clifftop too, with incredible views and an amazing selection of food and drinks looking over the water and sunset. Parties here are fun as there’s a big dance floor in the main area until midnight, then the crowd moves downthe cliff for an after-party on the beach deck until the early hours – less noise down there!

If you want to get extra fancy you can also stay at Ulu Cliffhouse – it’s one of the most fantastic accommodation options in Uluwatu. However, it is not cheap! The venue is also very famous for weddings. Whether you sunbathe here or spend the weekend dancing, Ulu Cliffhouse is a must.

Single Fin

Single Fin is a great all-around bar that is basically the surfer haven of Uluwatu. This is our definite recommendation for a Sunday day/night drink – at “Single Fin Sundays” which is well-known among the Uluwatu surf community.

Situated high up on the rocks near Suluban Beach and close to Ulu Cliffhouse, Single Fin does reasonably priced food and drink and has a great atmosphere and a pool. The pool is huge and open to the public, so many sure to bring your swimsuit! My favorite thing about Single Fin is watching the surfers from far away, catching perfect waves out near the horizon.

While here, it’s also fun to have a swim in the rockpools and explore tidepools for sunset, then head up and grab some food and drink from Single Fin for happy hour (or any of the smaller local warungs in the area too). If you make it to Single Fin for happy hour, we recommend the 2-for-1 pizzas and cocktail jugs!

Tabu

Tabu is a great cocktail bar with equally amazing food and a great vibe. Come here for fancier eats like sushi, ceviche, and steak paired with fancy signature cocktails and bumping house music. It’s the type of place that slowly transitions from a restaurant to a bar as the evening goes on, with great tunes and a jungle-like atmosphere. They sometimes have more party-style evenings with djs and dancing.

The Shady Pig Uluwatu

This iconic Canggu cocktail bar and club has made it to Uluwatu – with multiple levels and a rooftop! The rooftop bar is pretty epic here, with a great view over bustling central Uluwatu. But there are speakeasy-style bars, seating, and dancing areas inside in true Shady Pig fashion.

Il Salotto: Uluwatu’s Late Night

All I could muster from here was a blurry video screenshot, but I feel like you get the point. lol

Il Salotto (connected to La Baracca) has become the late-night boiler room-style party of Uluwatu. After midnight, people come flowing in from other clubs and party venues in Uluwatu and dance around the dj decks set right in the midde of the room. There are great cocktails (strong too), and a huge backyard area for chilling and chatting until 4am.

Best Bars in Uluwatu for Happy Hour!

Now we are in our element – we made sure to test out ALL the best happy hours in Uluwatu at many bars and restaurants to find great deals. And now we can share them with you! Here are the best budget bars and happy hours in Uluwatu.

The Bench Brewery Uluwatu

One of the newer – but most irreplaceable – additions to the Uluwatu bar scene is the beautiful big brewery – The Bench. This brewery has beautiful architecture and open-air design with a whole patio area filled with tables. It’s great for a hangout any day of the week, watching a game, trying lots of local beers, or even parties and events that they have sometimes.

If you make it to their happy hour between 3 and 5pm M-F, you can grab a pint of their Easy Blonde ale for 50k++. If you make it to their happy hour on a Friday between 7-9pm, grab 2 for 1 cocktails. It’s up to you but money will definitely be saved!

Cafe La Pasion

A low-key favorite of ours, Cafe La Pasion is a modest venue for those looking for a bar on a budget in Uluwatu. Located in Balangan, the bar has a large screen playing surfing videos on repeat over a pool. The decor is very ‘day of the dead’ Mexican-themed, and the food options vary from Mexican to Italian.

There are lots of bean bags but also regular tables, more Mexican-themed art (hello Frida Kahlo mural), tons of different kinds of food, and 2-for-1 happy hour drinks. They have daily deals like Taco Tuesday, Mojito Monday, Sangria and Burger Wednesdays, Beer Bucket Thursdays, and Ladies Night/pizza/live music on Saturdays.

The staff are lovely, the drinks reasonably priced and the food is decent. They also serve shisha, and we indulged on odd occasions and enjoyed it!

District 6

District 6 bar Uluwatu happy hour

District 6 is a great budget bar in Uluwatu located near Thomas Beach that we frequent very often! It’s located down the road vfrom Suka Espresso (another favorite) on the main road of Uluwatu.

District 6 is really a great all-rounder. It has a large screen with surfing on it, nice decor, and cute quotes all over the walls, making it a fun and instgrammable place that appeals to everyone.

We had drinks on a few occasions here, as well as breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner, and it was never disappointing. It is reasonably priced, and serves good quality cocktails AND food. They also have happy hour from 5 to 9pm daily (107k++) and deals for a free coffee with breakfast and a free drink with lunch.

That’s about it for the best bars in Uluwatu from budget to boujee! Which bar is your favorite? Are there any more I missed out on and should add in? Let me know in the comments below!

Lola’s Uluwatu

Screenshot

Lola’s is one of the most loved restaurants in Uluwatu (and Canggu), with some of the best
Mexican food on the island. The food is top-notch, from their tacos to quesadillas, burritos, taco salads, and even their own version of a crunchwrap supreme.

But, the reason Lola’s is on this list is because of their happy hour! From 4-7 pm daily, they offer all of their Margaritas (which is quite a few different varieties) for 70k. It’s a fabulous happy hour in a great gathering place. I recommend the butterfly pea jalapeno margarita (my absolute favorite) and the kiwi margarita.

Nourish (Uluwatu and Ungusan)

Nourish has a location in Ungusan and Uluwatu (across from Hatch). The food here is – as its name suggests – very nourishing! It’s more of a health food restaurant vibe during the daytime, with fresh pressed juices, smoothie bowls, and delicious wraps and sandwiches. But they also have a great happy hour on offer.

Every day from 3-5pm, they offer half price cocktails + wine and 20k beers (what a deal)! They also have other amazing deals like 2×1 pizza Wednesdays and Sundays, and 95k burger + beer deals every Friday. You can even catch live music here a few nights a week to complete the vibe.
